Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts appoints director of employer branding (global)Having been with brand since 2005, Lien Chu started as corporate management trainee at Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Taipei in Taiwan. Moving up the career ladder, she has recently started her role as director of employer branding, global. With an aim to create powerful human experiences for current and future employees, she’s currently based in Hong Kong and will be defining the employer brand for all hotels under Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts.

The Murray, a Niccolo Hotel appoints director of human resourcesPatrick Ho has joined The Murray, a Niccolo Hotel as director of human resources. Starting his career in 2005, Ho brings with him 12 years of HR experience in the tourism industry. Some of his previous roles included learning and development office, F&B at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong; training manager at Westin Resort Macau; and assistant director of human resources at Four Seasons Hong Kong. Currently, he is based in Hong Kong.

Goldman Sachs welcomes Sally Chen as experienced hire senior recruiterJoining Goldman Sachs, one of the leading global investment banking, securities and investment management firms in February 2017, Sally Chen is responsible for recruiting in the securities and investment management divisions within Goldman Sachs APAC. She will be covering regions in Australia, Japan, Korea, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, India and is currently based in Hong Kong.

Michael Tai now recruitment coordinator at Deutsche BankAs a recruitment coordinator at Deutsche Bank, Michael Tai’s role is to understand what makes candidates tick and ensuring the role introduced will develop their skills and enhance their career. With close to three years of experience in HR, he has previously worked with HSBC and Manulife. He is currently based in Hong Kong.

Simpson Wong joins Pandora Jewelery Asia-PacificJoining Pandora Jewelery Asia-Pacific in November 2016, Simpson Wong brings close to 20 years of experience to his new role as regional head of learning and development. Being an MBTI & DISC certified trainer, he has previously worked with big names such as Apple, L’Oreal Hong Kong, and Adidas amongst others. He is currently based in Hong Kong.

Joyce Ma promoted to deputising HR manager at Hospital AuthorityJoining Hospital Authority in March 2014, Joyce Ma has recently been promoted to deputising HR manager. Before her years in Hospital Authority, Ma worked with Zurich Financial Services from July 2010 to February 2014 where she was last serving as its human resources officer. She is currently based in Hong Kong.

Gates Corporation welcomes regional talent acquisition, HR business partnerJessica Zheng has spent over 15 years in HR consulting and executive search environment. Her recruitment expertise is on functional areas such as HR, sales and marketing, and supply chain within a broad spectrum of industry sectors. Her clientele spans across sectors such as FMCG, chemical, telecommunications, automotive and hi-tech. Over the years, she has provided career consultancy to CEOs, CTOs, general managers, plant managers, operations directors, HR directors, HR managers, C&B managers and other HR functional specialists in Asia Pacific. She is currently working with Gates Corporation as its regional talent acquisition, HR business partner and is based in Singapore.

Marianne Chung joins iflix as HR business partnerMarianne Chung has recently joined entertainment company, iflix, as its HR business partner in January 2017. Some of her previous roles included manager, human resources at BASF (C&B and HRBP); assistant manager, group human capital (reward & performance) at Tan Chong Motor Holdings; and assistant manager (reward management) at Mah Sing Group. She is now based in Malaysia.

Rattan Chugh is chief people officer at Times InternetRattan Chugh has joined Times Internet as chief people officer, starting in January. In his new role, he will report to Gautam Sinha, CEO, Times Internet and his main responsibilities will be playing the critical role of shaping our people philosophy and the transformation and business orientation of the people function agenda.

Prior to joining Time Internet, Chugh was EVP, head of global hr shared services at Standard Chartered Bank, where he provided leadership and strategic direction to the multi-location global HR shared services with teams in Chennai, Bangalore and Tianjin. He continues to be based in India.

Vinita Sharma Saboo joins DuraroofBased in India, Vinita Sharma Saboo has joined Duraroof as its senior HR manager. In her current role, some of her key responsibilities include developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy; bridging management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues; as well as managing the recruitment and selection process.

Not only that, she prides on nurturing a positive working environment and will be overseeing a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.

HR solutions provider appointments

Ng Keng Hooi has been appointed group chief executive and president designate at AIANg Keng Hooi, AIA regional chief executive, has been appointed group chief executive and president designate. Ng has over 37 years of experience in the Asian life insurance industry and is currently AIA regional chief executive responsible for many of the group’s largest businesses as well as group agency distribution. He is also a director of various companies within the group including its two largest operating entities, AIA Company and AIA International. He is based in Hong Kong.

Hillrus Partners Advisory introduces managing directorBased in Hong Kong, Sonia So is specialised in compliance recruitment and responsible for the leadership, strategic direction and execution of interim management service in a diverse range of businesses on a variety of job roles and responsibilities - from company set up to management buyouts; headhunting to HR solutions in a M&A scenario; single event management to holistic digital marketing.

Trish Meecham joins Mannaz as client directorStarting 6 March 2017, Trish Meecham takes up her new role as client director at global leadership consulting firm, Mannaz. Meecham’s experience includes 16 years in corporate talent and development in Asia, with broad subject matter expertise in learning and development in both in house and external consulting roles, including eight years in financial services.

In her new role at Mannaz, her main responsibilities will be cultivating and managing client relationships, with select client delivery, including facilitation and coaching. Meecham is a recognised champion for inclusion and gender equity, having received a CEO award for her efforts in women’s leadership development at Credit Suisse. She will continue to provide expertise to clients in this area, as part of her Client Director role. Previous employers include Talent Gap, HSBC, Nomura, and Credit Suisse. She continues to be based in Hong Kong.

ORC International introduces director of employee research, AsiaJohannes Eckold joins ORC International as its director of employee research, Asia. With expertise in employee engagement solutions, C&B audits and bench marking, salary structure development, Eckold has more than 10 years of experience in HR. Some of his previous responsibilities included helping organisations with data driven talent management solutions when he was senior consultant, HR at Willis Towers Watson. He is currently based in Hong Kong.

Will Chan moves to Charterhouse PartnershipWith areas of focus on restructuring, forensic, consulting, dispute, fraud investigation and financial crime; Will Chan joined Charterhouse Partnership as a consultant (finance & accounting, and professional services) in March 2017. Positioned as one of the leading regional recruiters within its area of disciplines and functional markets, the brand was launched in Hong Kong in March 2007. As for Chan, he holds close to 7 years of experience and is currently based in Hong Kong.

Mercer appoints new principal, talent strategy and HR effectiveness leadAs of February 2017, Bernice Yu undertook a new role as principal, talent strategy and HR effectiveness lead at Mercer. Yu joined Mercer in 2015 where she was HR transformation and workforce planning COE. Prior to that, Yu had worked with Aon Hewitt as consulting director, and Deloitte as human capital human capital advisory services manager. She is currently based in Hong Kong.

Nanyang Business School, NTU promotes programme directorJoo-Seng Tan has recently undertaken the role of programme director, Volvo Leading for Growth Programme at Nanyang Business School, NTU based in Singapore. Working with one of the most established and comprehensive providers of business and management education in the Asia-Pacific, Tan was previously an associate professor at the university for 23 years. Prior to that, he was deputy director, Renaissance Engineering Programme for close to two years at this top-tier business school.

Eli Wong joins Lee Hecht Harrison and DBMBased in Malaysia, Eli Wong has recently joined Lee Hecht Harrison and DBM as a consultant in January 2017. Holding close to 20 years of experience in HR, Wong is currently based in Malaysia and has worked with companies such as BASF, DPO International, and Maersk Line. She was also a panellist for Human Resources’ HR Recruitment Interactive 2015, Malaysia; and judge for Asia Recruitment Awards 2015, Malaysia.

Fyte Greater China appoints new associate directorKaren Dancel has been appointed Fyte Greater China’s new associate director. Previously, she was with Drake International for close to 6 years where her last role was as branch manager. Throughout her career, Dancel has been responsible for hiring, training and managing senior and junior consultants; cultivating a strong client and candidate relationship through customised staffing solutions; as well forecasting and P&L responsibility. She continues to be based in Hong Kong for the new role.

Leon Li now researcher at Partner OneWith a focus on the healthcare industry, Leon Li has joined recruitment firm Partner One as researcher in Shanghai City. Being particular very strong in accounting and finance, ICT, HR, health and life science, the firm will be adding more practices to the business by inviting recruiting experts in the industry aggressively. Prior to this, Li was a candidate manager, life science at Astoncarter.

Leaderonomics welcomes Lydia GomezBased in Malaysia, Lydia Gomez has joined social enterprise Leaderonomics as its managing editor and business lead. Previously, Gomez was with Coconuts Media as its managing editor between 2014 to 2016, and prior to that she was the digital content and partnerships consultant at The Edge Media Group. She was also the deputy head of media at Yahoo Malaysia where managed editorial operations and coverages, created the concept for the first ever Yahoo Malaysia Cili Padi short film awards and developed original content for Yahoo Malaysia.

NUS welcomes senior associate director, Centre for Future-Ready GraduatesCaroline Palmstedt has joined National University of Singapore in March 2017 as senior associate director, Centre for Future-Ready Graduates. Her role sees her establishing the foundation for corporate leadership development programmes - a human potential thought leader educational initiative contributing to NUS graduate student’s future ready leadership capabilities through a suite of holistic research based personal development programs.

Based in Singapore, she has been in Singapore since 2008 where she has previously worked with Ericsson, NeuroLeadership Institute, and Monsanto Company in the country.

Bruce Davie appointed VP and CTO of VMware Asia Pacific and JapanA leader in cloud infrastructure and business mobility, VMware has announced the appointment of Bruce Davie to the role of vice president and chief technology officer (CTO) of the VMware Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) business. As CTO, Davie will lead VMware APJ’s technical community, which includes systems engineers, technical account managers and professional services organization, with a focus on customers’ long-term strategy, technical innovation and product quality. He will be based in Singapore.

Cornerstone Global Partners appoints Kent Yar as practice leader for APACCornerstone Global Partners (CGP) has announced the appointment of Kent Yar as practice leader for its aerospace & aviation business. Based in Singapore, Yar will be responsible for developing CGP's aerospace & aviation business in the Asia Pacific, including general aviation, airliners, manufacturers and MROs, and assist the company's efforts in client retention, new business production, and talent development. He will also work closely with the other teams in APAC to service regional and international clients.

Denise Ching moves to IHS MarkitJoining IHS Markit, a global leader in information, analytics and solutions for the major industries and markets that drive economies worldwide, Denise Ching has been appointed as its new APAC talent acquisition. Ching started her career in HR in 2014, where she was working 123RF.com as its talent acquisition specialist. Following that, she moved to Genting Berhad as a senior executive in HR. Currently with IHS Markit, she is based in Malaysia.

Deloitte India welcomes new human capital consultantAfter spending more than 5 years at Hay Group, Poonam Manchhanda made the move to Deloitte India as a consultant, human capital. She brings 15 years of diversified work experience in management functions and events, along with world class administrative support at an executive level. She’s currently based in India, and has previously worked with Cairn Energy and Fairfest Media amongst others.
