PRODUCTIVITY

Singapore - The Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation (SMa) and the Singapore Workforce Development Agency will be rolling out a series of programmes aimmed at boosting the industry's productivity levels.

These programmes will provide horizontal skills for greater versatility, sharpen vertical competencies and develop top skills in the manufacturing sector, said Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State for Manpower and Trade & Industry at the Hilton Hotel yesterday.

The first programme is a Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) in Manufacturing Sales and Marketing Programme, which will cater to engineers, technicians and technical personnel who are taking on new responsibilities that require skills in sales and marketing.

The second programme is the WSQ Graduate Diploma in Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) and a third programme called the WSQ Graduate Diploma in Engineering Simulation conducted by CAD-IT Consultants (Asia).

In addition, international and regional experts are slated to conduct Master Classes and workshops for local companies to adopt a systems implementation approach to raise productivity levels, Lee added.
