Employees in Asia Pacific understand the importance of big data and cloud solutions, but a majority still fumble around thanks to a lack of training.
About two thirds of decision makers and 75% of learners reported in a survey by Skillsoft there is a need for more training in this area.
"With more than 70% of learners polled looking for more training on cloud solutions, companies need to start taking stock of their existing learning programmes, and look to implement more relevant and engaging training," Glenn Nott, vice president and general manager at Skillsoft Asia Pacific, said.
"There is an urgent need to raise levels of understanding and equip employees with the right skillsets in order to maximise ROI and business impact."
When probed, respondents from the survey cited budget as a key obstacle in providing higher levels of training. While 54% of decision makers are currently investing in cloud solutions, 21% said budget availability was an issue.
Nott said these training programmes should be seen as more than a one-time investment as they are tools to help give companies a competitive advantage.
"More importantly, effective learning programs will empower the team with the confidence, insight, and creativity needed to spot business opportunities through these assets," he said.
