In a new advisory, organisations are reminded to plan for Malaysia's two upcoming public holidays on Monday and Tuesday, 10-11 September 2018 respectively.
Bursa Malaysia has issued a statement on the impending closure of the bourse in conjunction with the following two public holidays:
- Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s Birthday - In lieu of the public holiday that falls on Sunday, 9 September 2018; the bourse will be closed on Monday, 10 September 2018.
- Awal Muharram - Tuesday, 11 September 2018
Bursa Malaysia and its subsidiaries will resume operations on Wednesday, 12 September 2018.

For working professionals, this means a total of three major holidays in the month of September, with the third one being Malaysia Day on Sunday, 16 September, for which Monday, 17 September will be a holiday in lieu.
According to Part XII, 60D. Holidays on the Malaysian Employment Act, “every employee shall be entitled to a paid holiday at his ordinary rate of pay on ten gazetted public holidays in any one calendar year” in Malaysia, including:
- the National Day
- the birthday of Yang di-Pertuan Agong,
- the birthday of the ruler or the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, as the case may be, of the state in which the employee wholly or mainly works under his contract of service, or the Federal Territory Day, if the employee wholly or mainly works in the Federal Territory; and
- Workers’ Day.
