In fact, not only is Lee Kum Kee famous for its top quality products, it has gained wide recognition in the HR industry for its proactive roles in fostering sound corporate culture and staff engagement. Understanding that effective talent management is crucial to the business operation and expansion, Lee Kum Kee has put immense efforts into talent acquisition, retention, development, staff engagement, and most importantly of all, developing a happy global workforce.

All these are well-recognised professionally, as evidenced by the recent HR Innovation Awards 2017 that Lee Kum Kee garnered, with the five prizes below:

• Excellence in Workplace Culture - Silver award winner • Excellence in HR Strategic Plan - Silver award winner • Excellence in Talent Management - Bronze award winner • Excellence in Workplace Wellbeing - Bronze award winner • HR Head of the Year

Marching towards its 130th anniversary in 2018, Lee Kum Kee’s corporate culture has laid a solid foundation for the company and its employees to strive for the best.

The company offers a diverse range of programmes that allow new employees to familiarise with its six core values – pragmatism, integrity, constant entrepreneurship, “Si Li Ji Ren” (considering others’ interests), benefiting the community as well as sharing the fruits of success.

One of the signature initiatives of Lee Kum Kee’s onboarding programmes is a two-day trip to its largest production base in Xinhui. New joiners have the chance to gain a thorough understanding of the corporate culture, together with its firm commitment to quality.

They are given a front row seat to experience how the production lines are managed and are immersed in the world of flavours at the “soy sauce meal” with scrumptious cuisine prepared with Lee Kum Kee products.

Lee Kum Kee offers ample learning and development opportunities for all staff. With an annual intake, the management trainee programme enables the company to groom young talent with intensive and comprehensive training.

Lee Kum Kee has also developed a global training curriculum, allowing its staff from all countries to practise the company’s core values. Its global volunteer team organises a broad spectrum of activities that provide employees with plenty of opportunities to serve and contribute to the community.

In addition, the outstanding team award is staged annually to acknowledge cross-functional team work. Employees worldwide with 10 years of service or above are invited to attend the annual Founder’s Day in Hong Kong to receive trophies for their loyalty to the company.

Lee Kum Kee cares about its employees’ wellbeing. The company advocates the “tri-balance” concept of balancing health, family and career. Employees participate in a wide array of activities such as health seminars, interest classes, sports activities, dragon boat and rowing team training and contests.

Free lunch is offered at the company’s canteen, with a specially designed weekly menu that promotes a balanced diet. At the monthly birthday parties, employees gather to celebrate with the birthday stars and enjoy healthy and yummy delicacies.

Lee Kum Kee gives out complimentary gift packs with its own products at Chinese festivals to extend warmth and care for staff and their families. There are ample occasions where employees share joyous moments that simply make Lee Kum Kee a home away from home.

Derek Wu, executive vice president – global human resources, added: “We are committed to shaping Lee Kum Kee as the employer of choice and will continue to implement HR strategies that effectively engage our global workforce to scale new heights.”
