The Hospital Authority’s highest ranked HR professional, Pang Fei-chau (pictured above, centre), has officially resigned his post, citing personal reasons and a desire to return to clinical work later in the year, it was reported yesterday in The Standard.

Pang – also a qualified medical doctor specialising in internal medicine – courted controversy when he opposed strike action by frontline medical workers who were urging the government to close border crossings as the first wave of coronavirus hit Hong Kong back in February, the newspaper reported.

During his time at the HA, Pang also oversaw simulation training for staff, revamped the training curriculum for medical interns and launched the hospital accreditation programme across a number of public hospitals.

Chairwoman for the Hospital Authority Employees Alliance, Winnie Yu, said she hoped Pang would be more understanding of the challenging circumstances of frontline medical workers should he rejoin the HA.
