Home Credit's CHRO on driving the future of HR in Indonesia

Asia’s most renowned and respected HR awards, HR Excellence Awards is finally here in Indonesia this 21 November after much anticipation.

With an aim to honour distinguished organisations with robust human capital strategy planning, this awards show is the best platform to position yourself as a leader and increase team morale.

Human Resources Online’s Priya Veeriah unravels the four key takeaways of the awards show, in conversation with CHRO of Home Credit Indonesia, Wiwik Wahyuni.

Q Why do you think its important to recognise the HR efforts and talent in Indonesia?

Being one of the emerging countries in the disruptive era, especially for emerging industries like e-commerce and fintech, as well as a pioneer of unicorns/decacorns; Indonesia is relying on readiness of the right talent.

This cannot be achieved without effective and robust HR people, process and technology, which are increasingly becoming instrumental for sourcing, developing, engaging and maintaining talent.

The results are obvious and of worldwide standard; so it is important to recognise such efforts and achievements within HR in Indonesia.

Recognition is not only seen as an award but also a form of encouragement for sustainable talent development and management to ensure the readiness of people, given they are the main assets in the industry.

Q What do think the HR community can expect to gain from HR Excellence Awards?

There are some excerpts that can be gained from the HR Excellence Awards:

  1. References on best HR practices across industries;
  2. Proven business cases which can be adopted to each area where applicable;
  3. Inspirational sharing and discussions from key HR practitioners in managing the talent during the 3D (digital, data, disruptions) era;
  4. Engagement and networking/ecosystem with fellow HR professionals to improve knowledge as well as improved quality of HR professional communities.

Q Why should HR teams participate in HR Excellence Awards?

There is an old saying, "think globally, act locally"; this means that HR professionals, as part of the global HR professional community, have to keep up with the most updated business challenges and threats which need to be anticipated from the HR perspective, especially while dealing with talent scarcity in the 3D era.

Awards don't stop at the prize ceremony but go beyond that - how success stories and practices can be shared to enrich the options and alternatives in answering business challenges from sourcing the right talents, providing state-of-the-art learning and development programme, optimum rewards strategy, improving employee experience, and adoption of technology and agility in managing people.

Q How excited are you for HR Excellence Awards?

I am very excited and look forward to the upcoming HR Excellence Awards as this will provide significant feedback and inputs on how HR can become strategic partners to the business and deliver real value.

I am also keen to see the sharing of breakthrough approaches in HR, new technologies, upcoming talent, or hot skills crucial to the industry, and gain from fruitful discussions during sessions.
