How Hyatt & GE created their learning cultures

With technology and workforce behaviour changing, how can L&D consistently add bottom line value and deliver a sustainable impact? At Training & Development Asia 2017, the region’s biggest conference on corporate training & employee development, top HR leaders from GE, Hyatt International, and Tesla will share their strategies for creating a culture of learning that empowers organisations and generates business growth.

"At the core of high-performing workplaces are leaders who are open to dynamic approaches that can nurture talent amidst diversity and demand for maximum impact," said Aditi Sharma Kalra, regional editor of Human Resources magazine. "Some of these leaders will be speaking at Training & Development Asia to examine innovative learning practices and how they strengthen a multi-cultural and multi-generational environment."

Training & Development Asia, Asia’s biggest and most respected conference designed for HR leaders and L&D specialists, will take place in Hong Kong on July 7, in Malaysia on August 15-16, in Singapore on August 17-18, and in the Philippines on August 17. Training & Development Asia will explore the areas of learning & development, HR technology, succession planning, and talent development programmes. Among the speakers who will discuss these topics are:

For over 10 years Sri Vidya has built a sensational career around developing people and promoting a culture of learning in the electronics, manufacturing and cement industries. As the country HR manager for GE in Malaysia, Vidya is in charge of setting and leading the human capital agenda for the company and working with the company’s business leaders, the human resources team and government bodies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources and mass communications from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a master’s in business administration from Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Kris Herring wants to build innovative learning cultures that add value to organisations and allow people to reach their personal and professional goals. He brings over 20 years of experience in the service and hospitality industry to his current role as director of learning for Hyatt International, where he oversees the learning functions of over 80 operational hotels, and all pre-opening properties.

Beth Davies’ leadership philosophy is anchored on "invisible learning and development," which embeds learning in the flow of work and empowers employees to take charge of their development. Before becoming the director for learning & development at Tesla, Davies worked with companies such as Microsoft, Apple, and Gap, and as a consultant for companies like Visa, Oracle, and Tommy Hilfiger. Davies holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a law degree from Stanford University.

Past Training & Development Asia conferences were participated in by MNCs and the most reputable firms across Asia, such as BNP Paribas, Citi, McDonald’s, Manulife, Seagate Technology, Telstra, VISA Worldwide and many more. All presenters & panellists, such as Mimi Fu, director of learning and development at Ocean Park, are director or vice president level HR professionals with regional responsibility.

To be held in Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and the Philippines, Training & Development Asia is Asia’s biggest conference dedicated to training & development.
