How SAP SuccessFactors stacks up in top research firms’ reports

This article has been sponsored by SAP SuccessFactors.

The breadth and depth of functionality, as well as HR localisation support results in SAP SuccessFactors coming up as a leader among a number of vendors evaluated.

Making a choice, taking a chance, and implementing change - the three parameters that define the modern HR director's life at work.

To make the choice of a human capital management (HCM) software easier and more transparent, American research and advisory firm Gartner recently delivered a report called Critical Capabilities for Cloud HCM Suites for Midmarket and Large Enterprises. Packed with overview information, backed by use-cases, it reviewed SAP SuccessFactors, SAP's designated HCM cloud platform.

The software was rated highly for its customer adoption, strong native capabilities bolstered by continued development, and robust analytics and planning module. SAP SuccessFactors delivers quarterly updates in an era where most other vendors have changed to two or three releases per year. One of the most notable improvements to its product lineup include additional localisations to bring the total number of supported countries to 79 for HR, and 36 for payroll.

Clearly satisfied with its performance across a number of parameters, Gartner's researchers rated SAP SuccessFactors above average for breadth, depth and customer adoption across all functions (4.4); native capabilities bolstered by acquisitions and continued development (4.0); and availability of options to extend deliveredfunctionality and favourable feedback on user experience (3.8), among others.

This data was supported by a number of use-case ratings, primary among which was the 4.02 use-case rating by a large, global organisation (more than 5,000 employees) using its core HR+Talent HCM suite. The breadth and depth of functionality, as well as HR localisation support resulted in SAP SuccessFactors coming up first among the evaluated vendors. Customers with such complex requirements require the capabilities of SAP SuccessFactors and are able to demonstrate value with the support of a large ecosystem of system interface, technology and application partners.

Here are some findings from additional industry analyst reports that identify the biggest strengths for SAP SuccessFactors.

In the most recent report, Forrester rounded up the nine providers that matter the most - affirming SAP SuccessFactorsas a long-time worldwide leader in performance management. "The Open Content Network enables users to easily access content developed for both consumer and corporate learning," wrote the researchers.

IDC's 2016 vendor assessment report concurred, adding that according to IDC analysis and buyer perception, SuccessFactors is an IDC MarketScape Leader worldwide in integrated talent management. Further, it called out the unified user experience SAP SuccessFactors provides with the adoption of the SAP Fiori framework. IDC's report on integrated talent management added that SAP SuccessFactors' strengths include robust R&D, market momentum, depth of portfolio, vendor viability, and global reach.

All of these assertions are complemented by data shown in Gartner's research on Magic Quadrant for Cloud HCM Suites for Midmarket and Large Enterprises, which cited that as of June 2016, more than 1,100 clients have adopted SAP's Employee Central admin HR module (morethan 450 are live), which delivers 71 country localisations for HR, 31 for payroll and 16 for benefits.Noting that SAP SuccessFactors is well-suited tomultinationals that desire a global system of record for admin HR and TM processes, it also praised the company's extensive global sales, implementation and support presence.

They say excellence is not a destination, but rather a continuous journey that never ends - clearly, the path taken by SAP SuccessFactors is proving successful. As with all critical decisions, HR leaders are advised to factor in their own research, that is, solutions providers that build their offerings to address administrative, strategic and operational needs in multiple geographies, and tailored to specific requirements.
