HR practitioner appointments

Inditex promotes HR managerBased in Hong Kong, Jason Shek has been promoted to HR manager at Inditex, one of the leading fashion retailers with eight brands such as Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, amongst others. Starting out in 2011 with the retail giants, Shek has since moved up from human resources officer to assistant human resources manager and now, human resources manager. Prior to Inditex, Shek was an assistant human resources manager at fashion brand Harvey Nichols.

Schneider Electric promoted director, reward solutions (East Asia Japan)Having been with Schneider Electric since March 2013, Linda Lim has been promoted to director, reward solutions (East Asia Japan) in February 2017. Previously its HR director (East Asia Japan process automation), Lim acted as the strategic HR business partner and trusted advisor to the company's hub leader. Not only that, she has worked closely with the leadership team to define and execute business strategies to enable alignment and growth. Before Schneider Electric, she was working with AirAsia Expedia as head of people and culture. She is currently based in Singapore.

Mondelēz International has new HR business leadNate Ong is now the HR business lead, integrated supply chain for Malaysia and Philippines. Based in Malaysia, Ong has been with the company since 2015. Before that Ong, he was with British American Tobacco where his last role was head of HR, supply chain and corporate functions. He has also worked with other major organisations such as HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Kerry Group and Astro Malaysia.

Betty Lau now global learning director, leadership and business skillsBetty Lau expands her work to global learning director, leadership and business skills at Unilever as of January 2017. Lau joined the company in 2013 as global learning director. The role expands her responsibilities to leading leadership and business skills, in addtion to her existing work on learning analytics, and coaching and mentoring. Lau will be working on the development of a persona-based curriculum blending both business and leadership skills, as well as action based learning for Unilever's top leadership team. She is based in Singapore.

OpenRice.com welcomes Crystal Ng as new HR managerAfter almost four years with Hong Kong’s leading dining guide OpenRice.com, Crystal Ng has recently been promoted to HR manager. She started out with the organisation in 2013 as a senior HR officer, which she then served as assistant HR manager for three years before landing her current role. Prior to OpenRice.com, Ng was human resources officer at Emerson Network Power for close to two years; and before that a human resources officer at jobsDB for nearly three years. She is currently based in Hong Kong.

Julianne Andres now a talent acquisition specialist at Credit SuisseBased in the Philippines, Julianne Andres is part of leading global wealth manager Credit Suisse’s talent acquisition team. Andres has been with Credit Suisse since 2015 where she assumed the new role January this year. Currently, she is on the lookout for talented global operations, internal audit and risk professionals, project managers, internal auditors and market/credit/operational risk professionals to join its teams in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Prior to Credit Suisse, she was previously with BackCheck between August 2012 to May 2015 where she was responsible for employee engagement and retention solutions.

Grana welcomes new talent acquisition consultantDoron Vermaat joined Hong Kong online fashion retailer, Grana as its talent acquisition consultant in February. In his current role, Vermaat is looking for talented developers,engineers, coders with skills and experience in e-commerce to provide best online experience for clients. He has also worked with recruit.net as head of business development, as well as ConnectedGroup as a senior consultant, media in previous year. He is currently based in Hong Kong.

Darren Lee strengthens Alliance Bank MalaysiaCurrently, Darren Lee Boon Lye is an assistant vice president (strategic planning), under the group strategy and performance management department for Alliance Bank Malaysia. Prior to joining Alliance Bank, Lee was an assistant manager (management consulting - strategy and operations) with KPMG Malaysia where he served clients from public sector, FMCG, healthcare and utilities industry. His areas of focus have included corporate strategy, organisation restructuring, business process re-engineer (BPR) and financial modeling. Lee is based in Malaysia.

Katie Burke promoted to CPO at HubSpotHaving joined HubSpot in December 2012, Katie Burke started out at the organisation as its senior manager, analyst and media relations, events and sponsorships. She then served as director, media and analyst relations for a year before moving into a HR role as director, talent and culture in 2015. Burke progressed further as she landed her current role as vice president, culture and experience in 2015 where she leads a team dedicated to making HubSpot's employment brand and employee experience remarkable worldwide. She has also recently been appointed chief people officer at the company where she's overseeing recruitment, people operations, learning and development, culture, and employee experience to make culture and people strategy a competitive advantage as the company grows globally.

HR solutions provider appointments

Deloitte appointed new directorSanjeev Grover strengthened the team at Deloitte as its new director. In his current role, he provides business-driven solutions to clients across sectors. His clientele includes family-owned businesses, MNCs and Indian organisations. He specialises in organisation design, design and implementation of people strategies and processes, along with conceptualising and delivering learning and development programmes. Grover is based in India and was previously from Hay Group India where he served as managing consultant for more than 6 years.

Puja Bhattacharya is now a senior knowledge expertKorn Ferry Hay Group has recently promoted Puja Bhattacharya to senior knowledge expert in January. Based in India, she was previously an associate for close to six years with the firm and prior to that, a senior business analyst for almost four years where she was responsible for all aspects of project management and thought leadership. Before she joined Korn Ferry Hay Group in 2007, she was working with Evalueserve as a business analyst where she worked on various projects in the field of consumer goods which involved research and analysis of new and existing markets, industries, competitors.

Bennett Coleman and Co. promotes product and alliances leadBharat Bansal has been promoted to product and alliances lead, global executive education of Bennett Coleman and Co. (BCCL) - one of India's most diversified media companies. He had joined the company in February 2016 where he started out as a sector head. His current role will see him identifying and outreaching to top BSchools worldwide, as well as conductin product research, strategy and design. He had worked with Eruditus Executive Education, Info Edge India, AIESEC, and Munjal Themes in previous years. He is currently based in India.

Stephen Tse joins Robert Half TechnologyStephen Tse has recently joined Robert Half Technology in February as its recruiting manager. In his role, Tse specialises in information technology, finance and accountancy, as well as executive-level recruitment for temporary, contract and permanent placements. Previously from Nexus Corporation, Tse is based in Hong Kong and has also previously worked with Starrystep in 2014.

LinkedIn introduces head of North Asia, search and staffing solutionsNick DeMarinis now heads LinkedIn’s search and staffing business in North Asia. Together with a team of I have an amazing team of account executives, relationship managers, customer success managers and sales development specialists, his team works with recruitment agencies across Asia and empowers them to influence, engage and connect the right people at the right time. His LinkedIn journey started in 2011, and he is now based in Hong Kong.

Dion Groeneweg now managing partner at Cape GroupBased in Singapore, Dion Groeneweg  is a partner at Australian company Cape Group. He was previously a partner at Mercer in talent business where he looked after the HR transformation as well as workforce planning and analytics solutions for Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. An expert in human capital technology, he has guided leading organisations across the globe on HCM systems strategy, business case development and systems selection. With over 25 years of experience, his work included building and leading consulting practices and delivering complex transformation programmes for organisations in Africa, Australia, North America and the Asia Pacific region.

Jessica Ang is regional marketing director, APAC at TS KellyJessica Ang joined TS Kelly Asia Pacific in December 2016, moving from her marketing director role at CareerBuilder Singapore where she led a full team of marketing operations from on-and-offline and events marketing, content and creative design. Ang comes with more than 25 years of marketing experience in various multinational organisations such as HSBC and NCS Group. In her current role, she will be based in Singapore.

Speaking to Human Resources about her new role, Ang said: "The joint venture between Temp Holdings Japan and Kelly Services happened in July 2016 and the two key priorities are to firstly align the brand strategies and secondly, to coordinate all marketing structure and efforts across 12 countries in the APAC regions."
