HR job moves from Standard Chartered Bank, Burberry, Richemont and many more

Here are the major promotions and job moves in the world of HR from Hong Kong. HR Practitioner Appointments

New role for Standard Chartered Bank's Ken Wee Ken Wee was appointed head of human resources, corporate, commercial & institutional Banking, Hong Kong at Standard Chartered Bank in July.   His previous role with the bank was head of HR, commercial banking, Greater China & North Asia, and legal & compliance, Hong Kong.

Wee had also held HR leadership roles with the bank in Singapore and mainland China.  He brings with him more than 20 years of experience working in country, regional and global roles with both public and private sector organisations.

Scott Roberts takes up new position at Burberry Roberts was appointed HR director, Asia Pacific Shared Service at Burberry in July.  In the new role, he will take the lead in providing central HR services to teams in China, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, South-East Asia and Australia.

Roberts joined the company in Australia in 2012 as human resources manager and also spent time at the company's office in the United Kingdom.  In 2017, he relocated to Hong Kong to take up the position as regional HR director, South Asia Pacific.

Cyberport appoints new Head of HR Herina Lai was appointed head of human resources & administration at Cyberport in June.  Previously, she was the HR director at Mead Johnson Nutrition.  Lai has more than 15 years of experience in human resources including management positions in global organisations such as Microsoft, Accenture and Campbell Soup Company.

Wesley Ling promoted to assistant director of human resources at Marco Polo Hotels Ling's promotion came into effect in July.  He joined the hotel in 2016 and was promoted from senior learning and development manager.

With a degree in hotel management, Ling started his hospitality career as a corporate graduate trainee at Hyatt Regency in 2012 before deciding to focus on training and development.  In 2015, he moved up to the role as assistant training and development manager at the hotel group.

He also served at the learning and development department of Ovolo Hotels before joining Marco Polo Hotels.

CSL behring Asia Pacific welcomes new director Jenny Zeng was appointed director, HR business partner, Asia Pacific in July.  Her last appointment was HR director, Asia Pacific sub-regional at Connell Bros. Co./A Division of Wilbur-Ellis.   She joined Connell Bros. Co./A Division of Wilbur-Ellis in 2012 as head of HR, North Asia.

Prior to Connell Bros. Co./A Division of Wilbur-Ellis, Zeng was in Shanghai with Covestro.  She relocated to Hong Kong in 2006 as Covestro's HR business partner.

Promotion at Richemont Kyle Lo was promoted from human resources manager - support function to senior human resources manager with effect in July. Lo joined Richemont in 2017, after spending time in Beijing serving as the director of learning- China at Hyatt Hotels Corporation.

Travelzoo strengthens hiring team Lidy Cai joined Travelzoo as a recruiter in July.   In her new role, she is responsible for all recruitment activities in APAC, and also manages the employer branding, global orientation and general HR issues.

Prior to Travelzoo, she was a HR business partner at Hong Kong Airlines, providing HR advice & talent solutions for the airline's engineering department.

The Hong Kong Bankers Club promotes senior human resources manager Ray Lau was promoted to senior human resources manager with effect in July.   He joined the club in 2015 as human resources manager.  Prior to The Hong Kong Bankers Club, Lau served in the human resources department of Langham Place and Marco Polo Hotel Group.

New hire at the labour department Joyce Wong joined the labour department as executive officer in June.  She started her career in human resources in 2015.  Her previous appointment was human resources officer at Airport Authority Hong Kong.


HR Solutions Provider Appointments

Bupa appoints Andrew Merrilees as regional managing director Heathcare provider Bupa has identified Andrew Merrilees as general manager Bupa HK Health Insurance, as well as managing director for Bupa Asia. In this role, he wants to help Bupa members lead a longer, healthier and happier life, by improving service through technological advancement, and changing the way health insurance is offered in Hong Kong. He is based in Hong Kong, and moves over from Lockton Companies where he was regional head of benefits – Asia Pacific.

Tony Ho promoted to associate director at Elliott Scott HR Ho earned the promotion in July after spending five years with the company as consultant.  Ho started his career in human resources in 2006 as an in-house HR generalist before specialising in recruitment.

He was an associate at Profile Search & Selection working on recruitment of HR professionals across various industries before joining Elliott Scott HR.

Promotion at Resource Solutions Rebecca Harper was promoted to talent acquisition manager, Greater China at Resource Solutions.  She joined the organisation in 2014 as senior internal recruitment consultant in London.

In 2017, she relocated to Hong Kong to serve as internal recruitment manager, Asia Pacific and earned her promotion in July this year.  She brings with her more than 10 years of experience in human resources.

Jasmine Heerema returns to Ambition Heerema joined Ambition in July as talent acquisition, Asia.  This is her second stint with the recruitment firm.

From 2014 to 2016 she was a consultant with Ambition, then she moved to the recruitment team at Manulife.  At Manulife she worked with the internal human resources and talent acquisition team, specialising in connecting with strong talent in the market on behalf of Manulife, across multiple departments in East Asia.

Spring Professional welcomes recruitment consultant Timothy Lui joined Spring Professional as recruitment consultant in July.  Previously he was a recruitment consultant at Adecco.

New hire at Salt Miso Chui joined Salt in June as senior consultant - marketing.  She started her career in recuitment in 2014 with Adecco. Prior to Salt, she was a consultant-sales and marketing at Randstad.
