HR Practitioner Appointments

Laurence Smith exits DBS Bank after three-year tenure The former group head of learning and talent development at DBS has joined the advisory board of SmartUp.io. Speaking to Human Resources, Smith said he is continuing to operate from Singapore, and is also consulting local and MNC firms on digital transformation and creating a digital mindset.

The Aberdeen Marina Club welcomes new HR boss Simon Sung was appointed director of HR with effect from May, based in Hong Kong. Sung's previous appointment was as group director of HR at Sino Hotels. He has also served as director of HR at InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong, and Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott, among others.

ANZ promotes Anita Fleming to head of culture, leadership, learning and performance She is responsible for  programmes around purpose, culture and values and the bank-wide approach to performance management and employee engagement. She was promoted from head of learning and development, starting May. She remains based in Melbourne where she has served since 2010.

Imerys Graphite & Carbon welcomes division head, global human resources After a four-year stint in Singapore with consulting firm Mercuri Urval as VP business (HR) development in Southeast Asia, Fabio Fede heads to Switzerland for his new role with the specialised graphite and carbons manufacturer, effective 30 May. He told Human Resources: "Imerys Graphite and Carbon is the fastest growing/highest margin division of Imerys Group. Specifically, the explosion in lithium ion batteries market in Asia and the M&A strategy across the globe is driving a five-year plan, very ambitious to achieve 1 billion euros in revenue."

Sime Darby CapitaLand (Melawati Mall) hires assistant HR manager Moving on from her post as senior executive, HR business partner at GuocoLand, Pandora Puah is now assistant HR manager at Sime Darby, starting May. She remains based in Malaysia, and has prior work experience with Powertek and Genting.

Etro welcomes new HR business partner Cathy Ying has been brought on board at the luxury good firm, effective April. Serving this industry sets her previous HR experience apart, coming from the hospitality sector, where she held roles at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and Sheraton Shanghai Waigaoqiao Hotel, while based in Shanghai.

Christina Choi returns to A.S. Watson Group as assistant HR officer After leaving the retailer as HR assistant in 2014 for Miramar Group, Choi was rehired by A.S. Watson in April as assistant HR officer. She remains based in Hong Kong, and has previously been HR intern at Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center in San Francisco.

Eric Kooh joins a logistics and transportation firm in Malaysia Previously HR manager at Minconsult, Eric Kooh has now joined a logistics and transportation firm based in Port Klang. He brings with him almost two decades of experience as an HR generalist and recruiter, and has previously worked with Kelly Selection and Manpower Staffing Services.

GoQuo appoints HR and talent acquisition specialist Shoba Mangaleswaran has been recruited by the travel technology developer, with effect from June. She was previously talent acquisition specialist with Expedia, and she continues to be based in Kuala Lumpur. She has previously served as senior recruiter talent acquisition at DISYS, among other roles.

HR Solutions Provider Appointments

SAP names Shane Paladin managing director of Hong Kong and Macau Effective June of this year, Paladin will lead the sales and business development team to help organisations accelerate their digital transformation. He will operate from Hong Kong, and will report to Mark Gibbs, global senior vice president, SAP SE and President, SAP Greater China.

Ian Grundy joins Ciett As Adecco Group's marketing and communications head, Asia Pacific, Ian Grundy is, as of May 2016, the firm's corporate representative at Ciett. Based in Singapore, Grundy is responsible for Adecco's operations across Asia Pacific, including Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia.

PwC Australia welcomes new partner Andrew Curcio has moved to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) after serving for more than three years as director of Towers Watson. Based in Melbourne, Curcio's new appointment will be effective from June. He specialises in all areas of compensation and benefits and is passionate about providing superior customer service and value.

Marlin Hawk appoints an associate partner for Asia Marc Baloch joins the firm from Harvey Nash, where he headed the retail financial services practice. Based in Hong Kong, his new role will be effective from June and will focus on leadership advisory and executive search services across Asia within insurance, consumer and wholesale banking and private wealth management.

Philip Leong moves to Hong Kong  Previously working at Manpower Staffing Services Singapore, where he had served as the business manager-perm for nearly three years, Leong has now been appointed to take on the role of managing director at Gemini Personnel.

Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp) greets a new CEO Shareen Shariza Dato’ Abdul Ghani has replaced Johan Mahmood Merican, who had held the CEO position for more than five years, with immediate effect. She was the chief operating officer of TalentCorp in her last role, and continues to operate from Malaysia.

Vuthy Kim undertakes the role of DKSH (Cambodia)'s manager, resourcing and talent acquisition Kim's new role will be official in June.  He has over from HRINC (Cambodia), where he held the position of HRS consultant, recruitment & training.  He has nearly 10 years of experience in the HR field and operates from Cambodia.

Oracle brings in Janaka Seneviratne as consulting solution manager After nearly six years with Merrill Lynch as the firm's vice president HRIS, Seneviratne has decided to explore new opportunities with the HR tech giant. The appointment came into effect in April. He is based in Singapore.

Resources Global Professional hires Bak Soong Lim as consultant Previously, Bak was working as the deputy CEO at AETG Company, where he was a finance expertise with special focus on merger and acquisition activities. His new appointment came in effect in May, and he is based in Singapore.

Korn Ferry promotes Alvin Ng to senior client partner Ng joined Korn Ferry as a managing associate in 2010, operating from Hong Kong. He was promoted this year to senior client partner, global industrial market and member of supply chain COE at the firm.

Resource Solution promotes Ian Blake Now working as the firm's new head of business applications, Blake's new role came into effect from June. He had been working with Resource Solutions in Singapore since 2014.

ManpowerGroup Solutions in India expands its HR team Previously a HR generalist at Digital Pugs Medi, Kavisha Garg has more than two years of experience in human resource management. Garg's stint in ManpowerGroup began in May, and she operates from Gurgaon, India.

Jason Ng will now work as Xpand Group's new consultant Based in Hong Kong, Jason Ng has been hired as consultant - digital at Xpand Group (Hong Kong), with effect from May. He was previously a consultant at Cogs Agency and will be focused on analytics and performance.

Kisha Raju has a new role at Resource Solutions Having moved from RBC investor & treasury services where she was the direct recruiter, Raju is now a direct recruiter, resource solutions starting June. She had been with the RBC investor & treasury services department since 2014, and is based in Kuala Lumpur.

Achieve Group says hello to a new consulting manager Subatra Jemis's new role comes into effect starting June. Her last job was consultant with Barrington James. She had been active in the HR field since 2014. She is based in Malaysia.
