The new skills platform is expected to benefit about 220,000 participants through around 5,000 courses offered by the Government.
The Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp)'s rebrand and new skills platform were officially launched on 2 December 2021 (Thursday).
Initially known as the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), the rebranding as HRD Corp reflects the organisation's "evolving mission to drive employment and industrial training placements, career coaching and counselling and develop income-generating opportunities for Malaysians from a diverse range of skillsets, backgrounds, and capabilities."
As reported by The Star, the agency had in the last 18 months expanded its role to support the training and development needs of all Malaysians.
It has also introduced a series of initiatives that focus on job matching and placement opportunities, along with income-generating programmes for a wider target group, which aim to reduce the country's unemployment rate.
Additionally, the new skills platform is expected to benefit about 220,000 participants through around 5,000 courses offered by the Government, NST reported.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who officiated the launch event, said the move "marks an important moment in the history of HRD Corp, being at the forefront of the nation’s workforce development efforts over the past three decades". He also expressed his confidence that HRD Corp will be able to "continue to support Malaysia's vision to become a high-income nation based on a digital economy, through the development of the nation's most valuable asset, the Malaysian Family itself."
Moving forward, HRD Corp will continue to support the efforts of human capital development through more skills programmes that benefit the Malaysian Family. It will also aim to provide great benefits and impact to the country in the long run, enabling the government to embark on a more cohesive, structured and efficient talent development strategy for post-pandemic recovery.
In a Facebook post, Datuk Seri M Saravanan also personally thanked Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yakoob for officiating the launch.
He further shared: "I personally am very proud of the commitment and performance of HRD Corp led by Datuk Shahul Hameed Dawood in forming a range of training programmes and skills to drive more competent human resources."
The launch event was held alongside a two-day exhibition showcasing strategic products, services, and initiatives from a variety of ministries.
