Jobseekers in Singapore are increasingly looking for job opportunities overseas, data from Indeed has shown.

According to the findings, 72% more jobseekers based in Singapore are searching for such opportunities, as compared to data in March 2020 and February 2022.

With that in mind, which countries are these jobseekers really keen on?

According to the data, the US came out as the top country of choice, accounting for more than 24% of searches, followed by Canada.

Additionally, Britain, the Philippines, Malaysia, and India also featured among the top ten most desired nations.

On the other hand, the data also revealed the top four countries with jobseekers that are keen on working in Singapore — namely India, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the US.

Most sought-after roles by job seekers

Apart from the above, the data also revealed the most commonly sought roles by these jobseekers. In particular:

  • IT, customer service, administration, and healthcare were among the primary searches.
  • Most desired tech roles included software engineer, data analyst, and data scientist.

Florence Yip, Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition, Indeed Singapore, observed: "Singapore has a well-educated and cosmopolitan workforce. With the borders reopening globally, they would want to experience opportunities elsewhere to work in different environments, either as a career boost or to have a different professional experience."

Further, the opening of Singapore's borders and the relaxation of pandemic restrictions have also made it more attractive and accessible for foreigners to get back to the market.
