INMAGINE says goodbye to traditional interviews with new 'Career Test Drive'

Job seekers from all levels will now have a chance to sample real work and manage job expectations for a specific role, by undertaking actual tasks and projects assigned to them over a three-day paid trial, before committing to the job.

INMAGINE Group has launched its inaugural Career Test Drive programme, which will present job seekers from all levels with an opportunity to sample real work and manage job expectations for a specific role, by undertaking actual tasks and projects assigned to them over a three-day paid trial, before committing to the job.

In a press release on Thursday (7 October 2021), the firm said this initiative is in line with the Group's "steadfast commitment to eliminate obstacles that traditional interviews possess, and to identify innovative ways to perform optimal job matchmaking for both the candidate and the company to achieve the best possible outcome, through an even more effective hiring process."

Through this programme, all prospective candidates will be given a chance to demonstrate their skills and capabilities in an "unbiased, real work environment" - without having to undergo interviews, which "have proven to be less effective in determining the real abilities of a prospective candidate."

"Over the years, we have realised the flaws of traditional interviews. For instance, instead of evaluating someone’s skills and abilities to gauge if they can perform well and would be the right fit for a specific role, oftentimes we would have to go with what we are told by the candidate; rather than what they can show or prove to us at an interview," Stephanie Sitt, CEO of INMAGINE, explained.

"On the other hand, not every candidate is a great talker despite having the right skill sets that meet the job requirements, nor can an hour-long interview accurately determine the capability of someone in a given role. Therefore, we have decided to look beyond traditional interviews, and to introduce our Career Test Drive programme."

Details on Career Test Drive

Similar to test driving a new car to see if it meets one’s expectations and fits their lifestyle before deciding on the next move, the INMAGINE Career Test Drive programme carries the same sentiment; in which it allows both the candidates and the employer to "kick the tires mutually" via a ‘job audition’ to find the best match.

Next, over the three days of test drive, the candidate’s daily progress will be monitored and skills are evaluated to help them map out their career aspirations more accurately. At this stage, no commitment is required, and either party can decide to end the test drive, if necessary.

More information on the programme, as well as applications, can be found here.
