Malaysia's JaminKerja (employment incentives) to be extended to 31 Dec 2022

With the extension, financial incentives given to employers who hire new employees from 1 January 2022 will be extended for six months.

Malaysia's Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has announced the extension of the Job Guarantee Programme Incentive – Employment Incentive (Job Guarantee Programme 2.0) until 31 December 2022.

Under this programme, employees who have just been offered work will receive mobility assistance of RM500 paid directly to employees on a one-off basis. With the extension, financial incentives given to employers who hire new employees from 1 January 2022 will also be extended for six months, to 31 December 2022.

This incentive programme is reserved for employers who hire new employees in the tourism sector, women, replacement of foreign workers and trade officers, and finally, vulnerable groups such as the disabled.

For example, eligible women, including single mothers and housewives who are not actively working, will be eligible for the incentive rate of 30% of the employee's salary for the first one to six months. There is a requirement of a minimum RM1,500 salary and a full-time/12-months minimum contract.

In a Facebook post, MITI affirms its support for Government initiatives through agencies under the Ministry that are "proactive in channeling aid and implementing initiatives that aim to preserve the wellbeing of the people, business continuity, and stimulate the national economy".
