RM8.97bn approved under Malaysia's wage subsidy programme, list of employers benefiting shared

Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Malaysia's Minister of Finance has confirmed that RM8.97bn has been approved for disbursement under the Wage Subsidy Programme (WSP), which has gone on to benefit 2.58mn employers.

The WSP was announced as part of the government’s Prihatin package to tackle the impact of COVID-19 and help employers retain workers, and has since been enhanced as well by increasing the amount allocated to it from RM5.9bn to RM13.8bn.

In fact, Perkeso, or the Social Security Organization (SOCSO) has released a list of all the employers that have benefitted from the grant. You can access that list here.

In a related Facebook update, Minister Tengku Zafrul noted that the 2021 budget that will be presented on November 6, 2020 will be focused on efforts to rebuild the economy. in addition to restoring the confidence of investors.

It will cover four major themes - welfare of the people, driving economic growth, preserving life, and maintaining the public services.
