Up the ranks: Elaine Champion lands new HR role at Cathay Pacific

Something of a journey woman for Hong Kong’s flagship carrier Cathay Pacific, Elaine Champion has been elevated to the airline’s head of learning. And more broadly, its leadership & organisation development global diversity & inclusion lead.

She is a seasoned HR pro who began at the airline as a cabin crew communications manager in 2007. Over the ensuing 12 years she rose through the ranks, becoming head of cabin crew training in 2015, managing a team of over 100 training professionals. In 2017, she became head of learning (customer experience) before being appointed to her current role this month.

Elaine is a people-centric leader – passionate about diversity, inclusion, people development, engagement and growth. Highly experienced in the areas of customer experience, people relations and development, she is intrigued by people, what motivates them and what makes them tick.

A bachelor of arts graduate from the Manchester Metropolitan University, she is also a graduate of the INSEAD executive programme and of the Stanford University design thinking programme.
