Up the ranks: HKBN names NiQ Lai COO

Effective from 1 March 2017, NiQ Lai will be named chief operating officer at Hong Kong Broadband Network (HKBN). He will report directly to CEO and co-owner William Yeung.

Formerly the group’s chief talent and financial officer, Lai, in this expanded new role, will lead the group’s sales and marketing operations for the residential market while he retains executive oversight of his previous chief talent and financial officer responsibilities in finance, legal as well as talent engagement.

"NiQ’s strong leadership and deep understanding across many different aspects of our business means he is well positioned to unify our strengths and steer HKBN’s growth via improved strategic thinking, efficiency and agility among teams," said William Yeung.

Lai joined HKBN in 2004. He has over 24 years of experience in the telecom, research, and finance industries. Prior to joining the HKBN, he was director and head of Asia telecom research at Credit Suisse. He is based in Hong Kong.
