HR practitioner appointments

BASF promotes Thomas Reineke to senior VP for global business servicesEffective January 2020, Thomas Reineke has been appointed senior VP for global business services at BASF. He will oversee business services organisation and service delivery in Asia Pacific and encompasses services for about 1900 employees across finance, HR, communications, EHS (environment, health and safety), patents, supply chain and in-house consulting.

Reineke spent 16 years in various branches of the chemical company in Germany, Brazil, and Hong Kong. His last role was senior VP for human resources where he was responsible for all HR areas including HR key account organisation, solution teams C&B, international transfers, HR reporting & controlling, and the HR shared service centre in Asia Pacific.


Peter Sargant succeeds Fern Ngai as CEO of community businessIn March 2020, Peter Sargant will be appointed as CEO of community business, succeeding Fern Ngai, who will retire after being in the role for eight years.

Sargant joins community business following a short career break, prior to which he was an executive director of Standard Chartered. During his days at Standard Chartered, he co-founded the bank’s diversity & inclusion council in Hong Kong and helped establish the Hong Kong LGBT+ Interbank Forum.

He also had a long association with community business, participating in the community business leadership team , the D&I in Asia Network (DIAN) and the Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Index and Awards.

Commenting on his upcoming appointment, Sargant said: “I am thrilled to be returning to Asia and to take on the position of CEO at Community Business, an organisation that I know well and have long admired. For me, this provides a unique opportunity to bring together my corporate knowledge of working across geographic and cultural landscapes with some of the world’s leading financial organisations, and my non-profit experience of working with minority groups and disenfranchised communities."


Elsie Cheng is Aramex's latest appointeeIn September 2019, Aramex appointed Elsie Cheng as its HR & admin executive. Previously, she spent nearly two years as recruitment and administrative executive at Code International.


HR solutions provider appointments

People & Performance calls on Kelly Wong as directorEffective from December 2019, Kelly Wong was appointed as director of Danish consultancy People & Performance.

Prior to this role, she has spent three years as head of HR at Atkins and more than 18 months at Kimberly-Clark. She held several HR leadership roles across a number of sectors including design, engineering and the professional services industry.


Mark Brookes relocates to Bangkok as senior principal at PRTRMark Brookes took a big career leap as senior principal at Bangkok-based recruitment firm PRTR. Prior to this, he spent 10 months at Hutchison Ports as general manager, talent acquisition and about a year and a half as director, talent acquisition APAC at Constituency Management Group in Hong Kong.

Brookes has 15 years of talent acquisition experience with specialisation in strategic human capital solutions, both in-house and within agency environments.


Charlotte Frank promotes Tanya Knott to director for legal & financial servicesTanya Knott took up new role at Charlotte Frank as director, legal & financial services. She spent 10 months in her last role as senior consultant, legal & financial services.

Knott traces her roots to Thailand and the UK, which has helped her engage and empathise with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. She began her executive search and recruitment career in London in 2006 and relocated to Hong Kong in 2007.
