Up the ranks: Joel Fastenberg appointed as Citi's Singapore and ASEAN HR Head

 

Citi today announced the appointment of Joel Fastenberg as Head of Human Resources for Singapore and ASEAN.

Based in Singapore, Fastenberg will be responsible for leading the Human Resources strategy in Citi’s ASEAN markets of Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. His role includes leadership development, talent management, HR business partnerships, compensation and benefits, and diversity and inclusion.

He will report to Asia Pacific Senior Chief Human Resources Officer, Stephen Cronin and ASEAN Head and Citi Country Officer (CCO) for Singapore, Amol Gupte. Fastenberg will also be a member of the Citi Management Committee in Singapore, Country Coordinating Committee for Singapore and the ASEAN Management team.

Commenting on the appointment, Gupte said: “Joel’s extensive international experience is an invaluable asset as we gear up our employees for the post-COVID world. I look forward to tapping his expertise in driving employee initiatives that champion learning and development to serve clients’ needs, foster personal growth and reinforce staff satisfaction.”

Fastenberg joined Citi in 2011, and was most recently the Head of Human Resources for Citigroup Japan. He brings to Citi over 20 years of HR experience across the financial services industry in New York and Tokyo and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
