Which company best uses HR technology?

With specialised tools that incorporate social media and the cloud to manage all manner of HR functions, technology continues to reinvent the HR role.

Each year, the HR Excellence Awards celebrates achievements in various areas of HR, including the use of HR technology. So which company in Asia best uses HR technology?

According to Aditi Sharma Kalra, regional editor of Human Resources magazine, one of the most anticipated categories is the Excellence in Innovative Use of HR Technology award.

"It’s not just about which technological innovation you are using," she said.

"The HR Excellence Awards jury will examine how the finalists facilitate administrative procedures, information exchange and other organisational operations to add bottom line value to their companies."

Last year’s winners of the Excellence in HR Technology award in Singapore were global FMCG giant, Unilever Asia which won gold, followed by regional telco powerhouse Singapore Telecommunications which won silver.

International gateway services and food solutions provider SATS was also recognised as elite as its HR team took home the bronze trophy.

Meanwhile, at the 2014 HR Excellence Awards in Malaysia, the winners of the Excellence in HR Social Media & Technology award were web design expert Cloone Corporation, which won the gold trophy, leading media firm Star Media, which took home the silver trophy, and professional services provider PwC which snapped up the bronze award.

"We are excited to find out which companies will be awarded for exemplary use of the latest technological innovations in HR," said Evon Yew, regional producer at Human Resources magazine.

"The Excellence in Innovative Use of HR Technology award will definitely reveal the company’s workforce capabilities, team engagement and first-rate leadership."

As always, the HR Excellence Awards are judged by an esteemed jury of over 60 regional heads of HR from around Asia, making it the only HR awards in Asia based on a peer review system.

Companies represented on the HR Excellence Awards jury are the most respected Fortune 500 organisations and some of the biggest employers in Asia and the 2015 jury is no different.

Past HR Excellence Awards winners are a who’s who of the most respected HR teams in Asia – AccorHotels, Agilent Technologies, ANZ Bank, Astro Holdings, BASF, BMW, Cisco Systems, DBS Bank, Dell, Deloitte, eBay, Ericsson, Ernst & Young, Facebook, Fuji Xerox, Google, Groupon, KPMG, Land Transport Authority, Malaysia Airports, Manulife, Maybank, McCann Erickson, Media Prima, Ministry of Manpower, National Environment Agency, PwC, Philips, Samsung, Siemens, Singapore Telecommunications, SMRT Corporation, Star Publications, Starwood Hotels, Thomson Reuters, UPS, VMWare, Unilever, Waggener Edstrom and many more have all proudly accepted HR Excellence Awards trophies over the years.

The Malaysian awards were held last week, the Singapore awards will be held on Thursday 8 October while the Hong Kong awards will be held a week later on 15 October.
