Singapore’s economy expanded 2% in 2016, on the back of a turnaround in manufacturing - the sector grew 3.6% driven by electronics and biomedical manufacturing.
Growth is expected in the same range this year, with estimates between 1-3%. The Ministry of Trade and Industry expects the global economy to improve with the United States and ASEAN experiencing stronger growth even as China slows.
