HR Practitioner Appointments

Mausami Arora takes up promoted role at British American Tobacco SingaporePreviously tenured with Positive Moves, Cisco, and ITC, and having joined British American Tobacco Singapore as HR manager in March 2016, Mausami Arora has since been promoted to head of HR. she continues to be based in Singapore, where she is tasked with - providing HR leadership across business lines (manufacturing, regional ops, and corporate functions); enabling business leaders to solve complex business challenges; shaping functional and organisational agenda for talent; and leading a multi-disciplinary team of HR experts.

She brings a unique mix of experiences across technology and FMCG industries, and is passionate about solving business challenges in collaboration with business leaders.

Jon-paul Pritchard moves to Toll Group as global talent acquisition headMost recently head of executive talent acquisition for Cisco Systems in APAC, Jon-paul Pritchard is now global talent acquisition head with logistics major, Toll Group. His career to date has included high-profile roles in EMEAR and most recently in APAC, and has taken him from executive search to board consulting, and most recently internal executive talent at Cisco. Jon-paul is focused on continuously developing his leadership skills and has been actively coaching within his organisations and externally. He is a professional certified coach with a master's degree in organisational psychology in 2016.

Anitha Ramakrishnan appointed as regional HR director at KantarResearch firm Kantar has appointed Anitha Ramakrishnan as regional HR director for the Insights Division, comprising Kantar Millward Brown and Kantar TNS. Her role covers North Asia, Southeast Asia and Pacific – including Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Cambodia, and Myanmar.

In her new role, she will lead the HR team across the region, evolving the business structures to enable closer collaboration between brands. She is tasked with developing the capabilities of employees, and will be reporting to Adrian Gonzalez, CEO for Kantar’s insights division. On that note, Gonzalez said: "Anitha’s vast experience in talent development and organisational culture and design will ensure we have the right expertise in place to support our clients where they need us."

Anitha will be based out of the regional headquarters in Singapore. She steps into the shoes of Narelle Burke, who has been promoted to global head of learning and leadership for Kantar and will continue being based in Singapore. [Read more]

Bhuvanes Krishnasamy is group director HR for Sunway HotelsKuala Lumpur-based Sunway Hotels & Resorts, the hospitality division of Malaysian conglomerate Sunway Group, has appointed Bhuvanes Krishnasamy as group director of human resources. She will be responsible for the strategic framework within HR, with a particular focus on talent management, driving performance through people strategy and leadership development, and to embed the corporate culture to the 11 Sunway Hotels & Resorts in Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam, which represent over 2,000 employees.

She is based at Sunway Hotels & Resorts’ corporate office in Sunway City, Kuala Lumpur. “We are delighted to have Bhuvanes on the leadership team and look forward to her contributions as we focus on the continued growth of Sunway’s hospitality division,” said André Scholl, chief executive officer of Sunway Hotels & Resorts. Colin Rozario is appointed director of HR, Banyan Tree Kuala LumpurWith the recent opening of the first Banyan Tree resort in Malaysia, Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur has announced its key appointment of Colin Rozario, director of human resources, who will oversee the full spectrum of HR including talent acquisition, employee engagement, and succession planning.

With a growing team of team of four in the HR department, this hospitality expert spoke to Human Resources on the adventure that awaits in his role. "My immediate priority with Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur would be to ensure Banyan Tree’s unique culture is actualised within the context of Malaysia. We are also focused on identifying and bringing on board the right talent who meet our expectations, and who have the personal traits that are in sync with the Banyan Tree culture," he said. Christopher (Cuerdo) Abarintos has joined Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS)Effective May 2018, Christopher (Cuerdo) Abarintos has joined financial services advisory Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) as recruitment lead, Asia Pacific and India. Based in Makati City, he is the overall recruitment lead for Manila, Mumbai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo. He has prior experience working with The Aviary Hotel (freelance), PwC Philippines, IBM, and more.


HR Solutions Provider Appointments

Former Sanofi CTO, Freddie Chow sets up HR consultancyAfter a long tenure of 26 years with major french healthcare company Sanofi, Freddie Chow has decided to venture out and start-up his own human capital management consulting firm, Great at People. The Singapore-based company will focus on executive coaching, training, M&A integration, HR transformation and search services. "Its mission is to help organisations to maximise the potential of their human capital to create an impact on their business results," he told Human Resources.

His last corporate appointment in Sanofi was as chief talent officer, Asia Pacific, and he previously held a regional HR Head position, spending 13 years based in Shanghai. [Read more]

Eugene Wong joins Gartner as senior talent partner for AsiaEffective May 2018, Eugene Wong has joined Gartner as the senior talent partner for Asia. Prior to that, he was associate director at Frazer Jones. He comes with more than eight years of B2B and B2C experience having worked with Citibank and Michael Page and is hired into Gartner to continue growing its established and expanding business in the region.

When asked why he had made the move, he told Human Resources: "Gartner is an amazing company that has enjoyed 30 quarters of double-digit growth and while they are the world leader for research and advisory, they continue to be on this journey of growth. While they have highly developed recruitment processes and are highly invested in hiring the best talent for the organisation, they are continually looking to innovate and improve how things are being done."

Jake Choy is promoted at Salesforce to team lead for enterprise business developmentHaving joined the cloud computing player, Salesforce as business development for the enterprise market in Malaysia in May 2017, Jake Choy has been promoted to team lead for enterprise business development across the ASEAN region. In this role, he acts as the first point of contact for the ASEAN and KOR business development representatives for any obstacles that may hinder their journey to being successful.

He also acts as the right hand man to management through contribution in executing market development strategies within the dedicated regions. He continues to be based in Singapore, and was previously with Oracle as ASEAN digital demand consultant before joining Salesforce.
