Civil servants in Perak, Penang, Johor and more to get Aidilfitri bonus

In further updates, Bernama has reported that the Pahang state government will disburse Aidilfitri bonus of RM600 to all state civil servants from Grade 54 and below. Expected to be paid out by 24 May, the bonus is likely to benefit 8,000 civil servants.

Meanwhile, civil servants across all level in Sabah will get a raya bonus of RM500, which will be paid before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, as also shared in Bernama. The payment is expected to be dispensed to 21,021 civil servants, including staff of the local authorities.

Additionally, 19,244 civil servants in Selangor can look forward to a bonus equivalent to one month's salary, while the 739 federal staffers serving in the state will receive RM1,000 each. The amount is expected to be paid out on 7 June.

Reported in Bernama, a one-month bonus will also be given to 1,521 government-linked company (GLC) staff and those working in strategic planning organisations like Universiti Selangor (Unisel), Yayasan Hijrah Selangor, Tourism Selangor, Invest Selangor and Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor.

Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari also said that Selangor civil servants will receive two months' bonus at the end of the year.

Rounding these special payments off, the Prime Minister's Office will provide RM450 Special Financial Assistance to nearly 1.5 million civil servants from Grade 56 and below. This special aid will also be enjoyed by nearly 0.8 million Government pensioners in appreciation of the services with a total payment of RM225.

Payments for this special assistance will be made on May 24, 2019.

In newer updates, civil servants in Sarawak, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah and Johor will also be receiving bonuses for Aidilfitri.

A statement released by Sawarak's Chief Minister's Office on Tuesday (14 May) said: "This special financial aid of RM500 will be paid out on 23 May 2019, and will be part of the upcoming Hari Gawai and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations."

It will apply to those in the service before or as at 31 May 2019.

Over in Johor, in a press statement to Bernama, state secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani said civil servants in the state will also be receiving a special Aidilfitri bonus of either half-month salary or a minimum of RM1,000. The first payment would be made on 21 May with the balance being paid by 31 May. This will benefit 19,602 civil servants, including those in the local authorities and state statutory bodies, Datuk Azmi added.

Bernama also reported separately that civil servants in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Kedah will be receiving bonuses.

In Melaka, an amount of RM1,000 will be paid together with civil servants' salaries at the end of this month, benefitting 5,300 state civil servants.

While in Negeri Sembilan, a special financial aid (BKK) was paid to civil servants yesterday in line with the Aidilfitri celebration. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said it would benefit a total of 3,481 civil servants who received half-month salary or a minimum of RM1,000.

Kedah 's bonus payout was announced today by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir. He said 4,711 state civil servants, including 316 contract and temporary officers, will enjoy the bonus of RM1,000 on 30 May.

Civil Servants in Perak can look forward to receiving a special bonus this Thursday (16 May), given out by the state government to help with Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Aidilfitri) preparations, Bernama reported.

This bonus is part of a two-part bonus, of either one month's pay or a minimum of RM2,000 promised to civil servants of the state during the Budget 2019 announcement. The first portion was given out in December 2018.

Over in Penang, civil servants there will also be receiving an Aidilfitri bonus equal to half a month's pay or a minimum of RM1,000, according to Bernama.

Citing the reason behind this, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said it was due to concerns by the state government regarding the rising cost of living in the state, particularly with the festive period taking place.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday (13 May), Chief Minister Chow said a total of RM5.27 million will benefit 3,905 civil servants in Penang.

With regard to civil servant bonuses in the other states - while no announcements of allocations have been made, Bernama further reported that the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Service (CUEPACS) has been pushing for Aidilfitri bonuses for all civil servants.

In fact, CUEPAC's president, Datuk Azih Muda, had spoken to the Chief Secretary to the Government, as well as sent a letter to both Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng on this.

Speaking to reporters after an event on Sunday (12May), Datuk Azih a bonus of RM1,000 should be given to every civil servant, while RM500 should be allocated to those either in Grade 54 or below, or who have retired.

He said: "We believe there has been a positive feedback on the initial special assistance which is expected to amount to over RM1 billion.

“Previously, only those in Grades 41 and below were eligible and this time we do not want any restrictions and all in Grade 54 and below are also eligible to receive it."
