Deliveroo announced yesterday that it has invested a total of HK$1 million in special rider support around COVID-19 this year. The initiative including distribution of over 260,000 protective face masks to riders. To ensure riders’ safety, the food delivery company will continue to supply masks until the effects of COVID-19 no longer pose a threat to the public.

Deliveroo has already distributed around 2800 boxes of protective face masks, amounting to over 140,000 masks up until August 2020.

Additionally, Deliveroo has partnered with Procare HK, a Hong Kong-based mask manufacturer, to obtain an additional 2500 boxes of masks (120,000 masks in total) for its riders from now until December. Riders can collect the masks at the Deliveroo's office or via mail.

“The health of our riders is of the utmost of importance to us, especially as they have courageously taken on more work as the city grapples with COVID-19 and food delivery service has become an essential service in the city. It's our responsibility to help ensure that our riders receive resources that will keep them safe and healthy," said Brian Lo, general manager of Deliveroo Hong Kong.

"We are also pleased to have collaborated with Procare HK, a local supplier here in Hong Kong of high-quality and reliable surgical masks. Giving back and supporting local businesses is particularly important right now, as we all face the economic hardships together and look for new ways to help boost Hong Kong’s economy," Lo added.
