Lalamove announced a partnership with insurtech StartupCare on Monday to offer three-month free medical insurance for Lalamove drivers who provide on-demand and same-day delivery services. It aims to protect drivers' health and alleviate their financial burden amid Covid-19.

Insurtech refers to use of technology innovations designed to increase the ease and efficiency of the current insurance industry model.

The medical insurance package underwritten by Generali includes a cash lump sum of HK$50,000 for Covid-related matters and up to HK$1000 daily cash for hospitalisation due to accidents.

"StartupCare is honoured to be working in partnership with Lalamove to design a suitable medical protection campaign to alleviate the financial burden of Lalamove's drivers. We have been paying attention to employee health and wellness. We hope to provide employers and their teams a comprehensive medical protection to increase their work efficiency," said Wu Ying, CEO of StartupCare.
