Countries and territories that now qualify for visa-free travel include India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and more.
Citizens from 93 countries and territories will now be able to enter Thailand either without a visa or with a visa-on-arrival (VOA), with permission to stay up to 60 days per visit, effective 15 July 2024 (Monday).
According to an update by the Thai government's public relations department, the new visa policy will extend the stay period for visitors from 57 countries and territories, including the US, Japan, and numerous European nations, who can currently travel visa-free, from 30 days to 60 days.
In addition, travellers from 13 other nations and territories, such as India and Kazakhstan, previously restricted to 30-day stays, will now qualify for the extended 60-day period.
The policy also extends visa waiver privileges to visitors from six new countries and territories, including China and Russia, while those from 17 other markets, such as Jordan, Sri Lanka, and Ecuador, will now qualify for VOAs and stays of up to 60 days.
With the extension, the updated list of countries/regions eligible for visa-free travel to Thailand now includes:

- Brunei
- Cambodia
- China
- Hong Kong
- India
- Indonesia
- Japan
- Republic of Korea
- Laos
- Macau
- Malaysia
- Philippines
- Singapore
- Sri Lanka
- Taiwan
- Vietnam
As shared in the update, Prime Minister of Thailand Srettha Thavisin has expressed optimism regarding the implementation of these new regulations, highlighting extensive preparatory measures put in place since last year to handle an expected rise in tourists from key global markets.
The above is part of a series of short-, medium-, and long-term visa and travel measures announced in June 2024 for travellers entering Thailand for tourism or business purposes.
