As of this week, small and medium businesses have a new recruitment tool at their disposal: Google Hire. Designed to work alongside Google's G Suite, the hiring app is supposed to help businesses manage their candidates and run a more efficient recruiting process.
For now, Google Hire is available to all US-based businesses using G Suite with less than 1,000 employees. Its strength lies with the fact that it integrates seamlessly with G Suite apps like Gmail and Google Calendar.
"Hire and G Suite are made to work well together so recruiting team members can focus on their top priorities instead of wasting time copy-pasting across tools," senior product manager Berit Johnson wrote in a Google blog post.
The integration makes it possible for recruiters to communicate with candidates in either Gmail or Hire and have all messages synced automatically in both. Similarly, the app works with Google Calendar to ensure scheduled interviews don’t clash with previous appointments on the hiring manager’s schedule. Any data collected in Hire can be analysed and visualised in Sheets.
Hire is the second recruitment-related tool Google has launched this year. In May, the company introduced Google for Jobs, a service that aims to make it easier for job seekers to find the right opening.
