Expect rainy, cool, and windy weather early on, with brief afternoon showers later. Daily temperatures will range from 24-34°C on most days, dipping to 22°C on the first few days.
A monsoon surge is expected to affect Singapore from 17 (Friday) to 19 (Sunday) January 2025, bringing rainy and windy conditions, according to an advisory by Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS). an update by national water agency PUB. This follows a similar warning issued for 10–13 January 2025, predicting another surge of strong north-easterly winds over the South China Sea due to strengthening high-pressure systems in northern Asia. This surge is expected to bring wetter conditions to Singapore and the surrounding region.
The National Water Agency, PUB, has also warned of prolonged rainfall and high tides reaching up to 3.2m during this period. Combined with heavy rain, this could increase the risk of flooding in coastal areas. PUB said it will monitor the situation closely and issue flood warnings as necessary, with Quick Response Teams (QRT) ready to manage any flooding incidents and assist affected communities, including residents and businesses in flood-prone areas with flood defences.
PUB advises the public to stay informed about flood risks by signing up for free flood alerts and downloading the myENV app or subscribing to PUB Flood Alerts on Telegram.
As also shared previously, PUB has also advised the public to take note of the following flood safety tips:
🌊 Adjust your travel plans if needed.
🌊 Check your destination for flood risk and plan your route accordingly.
🌊 For pedestrians: Use a stick or umbrella to check for open drains and firmness of the ground in front of you.
🌊 Don't drive or walk through water above kerb or ankle height.
🌊 For motorists: If the flooded area is absolutely unavoidable and assessed to be passable, drive slowly and steadily. Avoid braking to keep your engine speed higher and constant. Stay close to the middle lane as water tends to accumulate on the side lanes. Go through floodwater one vehicle at a time.
