Malaysia employers to get COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kits from SOCSO

While the kits are complimentary, employers are responsible for coordinating the tests for their employees with selected clinics and hospitals, as well as the cost of testing.

Malaysia's Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), an agency of the Ministry of Human Resources, will be supplying complimentary COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kits (RTK) to employers as part of the nation's COVID-19 Recovery Phase Screening Test Programme, which began on Monday (6 September). The kits will be supplied to employers based on the number of employees who actively contribute to SOCSO.

With regard to administering the tests, the agency shared that employers are responsible for coordinating the screening test with the clinic or hospital selected, and will bear the cost of the test.

"It is hoped this initiative would lighten the burden of employers who now need to only bear the costs to carry out the test charged by hospitals and clinics,” Minister of Human Resources, Saravanan Murugan, said in a MalayMail report.

On that note, Minister Saravan urged employers to play their part in this programme as "it's the government's efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus when more sectors are reopened to revitalise the country’s economy."

He thus reminded employers that they will be assisted to conduct tests on their employees professionally, and the government and ministry will monitor the screening process through detailed reports.
