New MoU signed to strengthen social security among peddlers and small traders in Malaysia

This comes in line with the mandatory contribution of Self-Employment Social Security Scheme for the peddler sector, that has been in effect since 1 September 2024.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) and the Federation of Persatuan Peddlers and Small Merchants of Malay Malaysia (GPPPKMM), entailing a sealed partnership between both parties to strengthen social security among peddlers and small traders.

This comes in line with the mandatory contribution of Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) for the peddler sector, that has been in effect since 1 September 2024. As part of the MoU, a list of advocacy activities such as the SKSPS promotion and sharing program, awareness and education activities regarding social protection safety and PERKESO Concern Squad program. GPPPKMM members will also have the opportunity to follow MYFutureJobs’ upskilling and reskilling initiative and other services. 

The MoU was signed by PERKESO Group Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sri, Dr. Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed and the President of GPPPKMM, Dato’ Zainal Abidin AT THE Cooperative Meteri Ceremony on Saturday (2 November 2024).
