#RA2017 questions answered: Simon Flint, CEO, Evolution Wellness (Celebrity Fitness and Fitness First)

We continue our series of Q&As with speakers from Recruitment Asia 2017, Malaysia, that took place on 31 Oct-1 Nov and produced by Priya Veeriah. Today, we speak to Simon Flint, chief executive officer, Evolution Wellness (Celebrity Fitness and Fitness First).

Leading a team of more than 7000 employees, Flint shared powerful strategy maps to align teams with business goals. Here is his reply on the following question:

#Q: What sort of culture is embedded within your organisation and how do you communicate this culture with your employees?

There are so many facets to our culture and it is difficult to sum up in a short sentence. Ultimately any organisational culture is the aggregation of employee feedback as to “what it’s like to work here”.

However as we are always striving for improvement, our ’target culture’  begins with a statement of intent through our leadership philosophy which is then brought to life in actions that can be seen, heard, observed, felt.

Steering cultural improvement starts at the top and involves creating awareness amongst the senior leadership team (including myself), being aware of self-improvement needs, and addressing the development required to help us be better listeners and walk the talk of our leadership pledge.

Amongst other things a critical goal is to embed a true coaching culture and this started with the senior leadership team going on a journey to become certified master performance coaches. This journey continues with over 80 certified coaches and many more completing our in-house development programs to align our way of working.
