This funding is in line with the Low Emissions Technologies (ASLET) initiative by the Australia-Singapore partners.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Australia have announced eight proposed projects they wish to provide funding for, as part of the $20mn Low Emissions Technologies (ASLET) initiative to reduce emissions in the maritime sector.
In a joint statement on Wednesday (26 March 2025), MPA and CSIRO said a total of 32 applications were received varying from universities, research institutes and industry based in Singapore and Australia. The selected eight projects covered a range of activities including innovations in the supply, transport, storage, dispensing and maritime utilisation of hydrogen, ammonia and methanol, safety and environmental monitoring, electrification.
The selected projects can be viewed here.
ASLET, developed on behalf of the Australia and Singapore governments, supports the objectives of the Singapore and Australia Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC), helping to accelerate decarbonisation and digitisation of the shipping routes between Singapore and Australia.
Launched in July 2024, ASLET was made to support projects that could help accelerate the deployment and uptake of zero or near-zero greenhouse gas emission technologies for maritime and port operations.
With this, the projects are expected to be complicated in the next two years.
