Thailand records more than 5.5mn tourist arrivals in the first two months of 2025

The top five countries these travellers came from were Malaysia, China, Russia, South Korea, and India.

Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports reported an influx of more than 5.5mn international tourists in the first two months of 2025. Between 1 January and 16 February, the country generated more than THB270mn in revenue, with the top five visitors coming from Malaysia, China, Russia, South Korea, and India.

These visitors remain essential to Thailand’s tourism as they sustain the overall number of visitors, it was highlighted.

According to a publication by the Public Relations Department, the number of tourists from further locations such as Russia, France, and the US increased by 1.3% week-on-week with Russia achieving the highest visitor growth of a 7.54% increase. However, international arrivals declined by 6.36% on a weekly basis.

Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Theinthong credits the nation’s status as one of the world’s top destinations for its diversity and well-developed tourist infrastructure. These factors, he shared, will continue to drive attraction amongst tourists, driving economic growth through international travel.

In the coming weeks, the ministry is anticipating an increase in arrivals with support from tourism and sport events, as well as streamlined travel measures and other conditions in place to attract more travellers to Thailand.
