Labour Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn also emphasised four main guidelines that aim to create good welfare to improve the quality of life of insured persons in the country.

Thailand's Labour Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn has launched a project to develop the potential of public relations officers of the Social Security Office, effective 17 July 2024 (Wednesday).

Speaking at the launch of the project, Minister Phiphat outlined the ministry's policy: 'Good skills, good work, outstanding social security principles, and a focus on driving the economy.'

He emphasised the following four main guidelines aimed at improving the quality of life of insured persons:

  1. Build the economic foundation to improve the quality of life through labour protection. Improve and develop laws that are appropriate for the context of the country’s economy and society and that are in line with international standards. Raise the level of treatment rights, including the benefits of a modern social security system responding to the needs of insured persons.
  2. Promote good health for insured persons through proactive health checks in establishments throughout the country, which will enable them to access services and enhance their quality of life.
  3. Focus on social security in the new era, best e-service, and add online channels to make the services of the Social Security Office more accessible.
  4. Manage funds efficiently, transparently, and sustainably under the policy of a 'Stable fund, wealthy workers, and sustainable social security.' Increase the number of insured persons in the social security system. Accelerate studies and develop benefits to meet the needs of insured persons.

The labour minister underscored that the training initiative is designed to enhance the capabilities of corporate public relations personnel, driving the mission of social security public relations.

He added that the project aims to create a positive image, build knowledge, understanding, and confidence among employers, employees, insured persons, and stakeholders and ensures effective communication from within the organisation to the public through various media channels, aligning with the Ministry of Labour's policies and the evolving Thai social media landscape.

The Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Boonsong Thapchaiyut, also stressed the importance of communication in creating awareness and disseminating information about the office’s mission and performance.

The training on the project, held from 17 to 19 July 2024, was attended by 255 public relations officers from central and regional Social Security Offices, in sessions including lectures, practical knowledge sessions, discussions, and scenario analysis to develop participants into public relations professionals.

Alongside Minister Phumiphat and Social Security Office’s Secretary-General Boonsong, the event was attended by key officials including the Assistant to the Labour Minister, Siraphop Duangsodsri; the Secretariat to the Labour Minister Aree Krainara; the Permanent Secretary of Labour Pairoj Chotikasathien, and several Deputy Permanent Secretaries of Labour.
