Passport holders from these countries will be able to enter and stay in China for up to 15 days without a visa.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on last Tuesday (7 May 2024) that China has decided to extend the visa-free policy for short-term visits to China for 12 countries until 31 December 2025.

The policy covers the following countries:

  • France
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • The Netherlands
  • Spain
  • Malaysia
  • Switzerland
  • Ireland
  • Hungary
  • Austria
  • Belgium

Citizens with ordinary passports of these countries can enter and stay in China visa-free for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, and transit for up to 15 days.

First announced by President Xi Jinping during his visit to France, the extended visa-free policy is designed to promote exchanges between Chinese and foreign nationals.
