Deadline for extension of 'temporary conditional approval' for employing foreign workers in Malaysia: 31 May

"All applications received after that date will not be accepted and no requests will be entertained," Malaysia's Ministry of Home Affairs said.

Employers in Malaysia who are looking to apply for the extension of 'temporary conditional approval' for the employment of foreign workers are to do so by 31 May 2022 (Tuesday), the Malaysia's Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) reminded.

"All applications received after that date will not be accepted and no requests will be entertained," the Ministry said.

Separately, MHA noted that in line with the decision of the Cabinet, services and applications regarding foreign workers will no longer be managed by the Management of Foreign Recruitment (Bahagian Pengurusan Perkeja Asing, or BPPA), and the Ministry of Home Affairs itself, effective 1 June 2022.

Such, MHA said, will be fully managed by the One-Stop Centre (OSC), the Ministry of Human Resources (KSM), and the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM). The respective parties will manage the following:

  • OSC and KSM
    • Employer exchange;
    • Location change;
    • Updating of company name and address;
    • Coordination of company registration numbers, and
    • Updating of employer/employer representative information via the MyIMMs system.

  • JIM -
    • Levy refund claims

MHA added that the aforementioned claims must be submitted at the headquarters of the JIM at Putrajaya, Malaysia.
