The system will allow officers to choose to take their leave either the day before or on the second day of Deepavali, starting this year.
The Malaysian government has announced that Hindu public service officers can now utilise the Leave Without Record (CTR) system for one day in conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali celebrations.
According to a circular by the Public Service Department on 25 October 2024, the CTR is subject to its acceptance from the respective authorities. This circular will be applicable to all State Public Services, Statutory Authorities, and Local Authorities.
This year's Deepavali Day falls on 31 October 2024 (Thursday). Accordingly, the Non-Recorded Holiday for one day to public service officers who observe Hinduism and serve in states where Deepavali Day is a public holiday is on 30 October 2024 (Wednesday) or 1 November 2024 (Friday).
Officers may choose to take this leave either the day before Deepavali or on the second day of the festival, starting this year.
