Launched in tandem with the OIP is also the Medtronic APAC Innovation Challenge (MAIC), which enables companies to showcase innovative medical technology solutions.
With Singapore Economic Development Board's (EDB) support, medical device company Medtronic has launched an Open Innovation Platform (OIP) in Singapore. The platform will help establish strategic collaboration in healthcare technologies among stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem through capability development, partnerships, and business organisations networking in the areas of medical technology and digital health in APAC.
Further with Singapore as the epicentre, the OIP will not only offer more support talent and technology development in healthcare, but also data, artificial intelligence (AI), and automation which Medtronic can leverage for patients' varied needs.
Goh Wan Yee, Senior VP and Head, Healthcare, EDB, said: "Medtronic’s decision to establish its first-ever OIP for Asia Pacific in Singapore is a testament to our leading role as a vibrant innovation and business hub.
"The Medtronic OIP puts us in a strong position to serve the region’s growing healthcare needs, including those brought about by an ageing population, and create new exciting job opportunities for Singaporeans."
Launched in tandem with the OIP is also Medtronic APAC Innovation Challenge (MAIC). This programme offers business organisations in APAC the opportunity to showcase innovative medical technology solutions in one of four areas: life transforming technologies, better outcomes for all, experiences that put people first, and insight-driven care.
The top five winners of the MAIC may have the opportunity to partner with Medtronic for a commercial pilot on their proposed medical technology solution, valued up to US$200,000 for each of the five winners.
