MINISO launches programme to develop its talent in Malaysia for key roles nationwide

The trainees will be given opportunities for growth and development toward key positions such as national deputy general managers and national operations managers.

Global lifestyle brand MINISO has launched the second edition of its Eagle Leader Plan in Malaysia, effective 18 July 2024.

Part of a broader global talent programme introduced in 2022, this initiative is designed to strengthen MINISO's global talent supply chain, the organisation said.

In a press release on 9 August (Friday), MINISO acknowledged the importance of a strong and diverse talent pool to support its global business strategy as a global retailer; thus, the Eagle Leader Plan II, which brings together more than 10 Malaysian graduates from leading universities worldwide. These young professionals will be given opportunities for growth and development toward key positions such as national deputy general managers, national operations managers, and national merchandise managers.

Beyond the Eagle Leader Training Camp, the trainees will also continue to receive training courses covering systematic theory and core operational courses in the upcoming one to two years. Phases of the programme include a domestic operation study, overseas rotation study, overseas fixed-position practice, and a management training camp.

Since the introduction of the programme, a total of 36 trainees have been equipped to support MINISO's international operation and management in various markets such as the US, Canada, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

In that vein, the organisation said it plans to continue recruiting for the Eagle Leader Training Camp and aims to train 30 more global talents for the Eagle Leader Plan II within the next three years.

As a whole, through the Eagle Leader Plan, MINISO intends to build its global talent supply chain, while also enhancing its organisational capacity for global business development, in line with the company's global business strategy.

According to Jessica Huang, Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, talent and corporate culture plays a critical role at MINISO; with the company aspiring to be a nurturing ground for retail talent and is committed to enhancing mechanisms for talent selection, development, and care.

"MINISO offers its employees excellent benefits, diverse training opportunities, and a people-centric culture, creating a platform for their continuous growth and development," she shared.

Additionally, Bella Tu, Vice President and General Manager of MINISO Overseas Directly Operated Markets, talked about the four foundational pillars MNISO attributes its success to: hard work and dedication, focusing on long-term goals and sustainable growth, achieving tangible outcomes and measurable success, and learning from best practices while setting high standards.

Further affirming its commitment to developing global talents, MINISO recently opened the MINISO Malaysia Global Talent Development Centre in its Malaysian branch. This initiative will continue to cultivate more globally oriented talents in Malaysia, further strengthening the company's workforce of more than two hundred local employees.
