New mobile application in Thailand aims to tackle cybercrime and enhance traveller security

The launch of the app is supported by cybersecurity programmes designed to prevent cyber scams, with the government aiming to ease this issue in 2025.

In a bid to fight cybercrime and protect citizens and travellers, the Royal Thai Police has launched the Thailand Tourist Police application to offer instant assistance and crucial information to travellers, helping them stay safe during their stay in Thailand.

Introduced on 6 January 2025, the application also provides direct access to the Tourist Police Hotline (1155), available 24/7 for multilingual support in emergencies; and is available for download on iOS, Android, and Huawei devices.

According to an announcement on the Thai Public Relations Department's website, this initiative is part of the government's broader efforts to tackle cybercrime, which has caused significant harm in Southeast Asia and beyond. The launch of the app is supported by cybersecurity programmes designed to prevent cyber scams, with the government aiming to ease this issue in 2025.

It was added that Thailand is also expanding its cooperation with ASEAN countries in the fight against cybercrime, with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society preparing for the fifth ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting in January 2025.
