In 2020, Sun Life Hong Kong set up a new department D∩A (Digital ‘n’ Advisor) to replace traditional Waterfall approach with Agile methodology, aiming at enhancing project management and work efficiency, using innovative and client-centric digital solutions to ease our clients in understanding financial products easily and what services suit their needs. Chief Marketing & Digital Officer of Sun Life Hong Kong, Haymans Fung believes that the digital development of the insurance industry is lagging behind other industries. The future development of the industry will be led by clients, as technological development gives them more choice in products and services. There are four focus areas for catching up with the pace of digitalisation: client needs with the evolvement of digital development, transparency in selling & purchasing products, personalized products and client experience.
In the process of digitalisation, Chief Human Resources Officer, Cynthia Sit emphasised that human resources should be more involved in business and maintain close communications with colleagues in different departments. "As an HR professional, we need to keep ourselves up to speed to know the latest digital development and how to shape our corporate culture, understand the business development and needs. In addition, we continue to improve the talent development plan and inject digital elements such as online courses, workshops on change management, and digital related projects."
It is very important to find and nurture digital professionals for the Digital Enterprise initiative. Cynthia said, "In the digital age, companies have a great demand for such talents. We are now attracting talents from financial technology (Fintech), insurance technology (InsurTech), and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) industries, those who have a digital related work background."
