Singapore employers directed to use new booking system for onboarding of newly-arrived WP holders from 1 July 2024

The Ministry of Manpower advises employers and employment agencies to ensure the workers get pre-entry housing check approval before booking an Onboard slot.

Starting 1 July 2024 (Monday), employers and employment agencies in Singapore will be able to make bookings and upfront payments for their newly arrived workers on a new Onboard Booking System (OBS).

Singapore's Ministry of Manpower (MOM) shared that newly arrived work permit holders must attend the Onboard programme at the Onboard centre if they meet the following criteria:

  • They are a non-Malaysian male
  • They hold an in-principle approval (IPA)
  • They are employed in the construction, marine shipyard or process sector

MOM advises employers and employment agencies to ensure the workers get pre-entry housing check approval before booking an Onboard slot.

Workers must also complete the Onboard programme to avoid any disruptions to work pass transactions.

According to a Facebook post by MOM, the new OBS for the Onboard centre is a one-stop portal which aims to enable employers to create and efficiently manage group bookings.

To book an Onboard slot, employers and employment agencies may click here to access the OBS.
