Employers who have applied for PSU 1.0 or PSU 2.0, but not PSU 3.0, are to make a new application under PSU 3.0 to benefit from the one-month extension on wage subsidies (as part of PEMERKASA+), SOCSO noted.
Malaysia's Social Security Organization (SOCSO) has extended the deadline for Wage Subsidy Scheme (PSU) applications by a month, from 30 June 2021 to 31 July 2021.
This comes following the launch of the PEMERKASA+ assistance package this week, where Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced a one-month extension on the PSU for all economic sectors affected by the total lockdown (PKP Fasa). There will be a limit of 500 employees per application, borne by the Government, and the initiative is expected to benefit 2.5 million employees and more than 200,000 employers.
In a press statement, SOCSO said the subsidy will be extended automatically to employers who have applied under PSU 3.0. These employers will only need to update the list of employees before the 15th day of the month.
Employers to note: those who have applied for PSU 1.0 or PSU 2.0, but not PSU 3.0, will need to make a new application under PSU 3.0.
Employers who require more details may refer to SOCSO's website which will be updated with a set of FAQs on the extended PSU 3.0, or call in at +60-1-300-22-8000.
Prior to this latest extension under the PEMERKASA+ package, the PSU 3.0 had also been extended by a month in January, under the RM15bn PERMAI assistance package announced by PM Muhyiddin. In that announcement, PM Muhyiddin had noted that the overall Wage Subsidy Programme was among the "better received" initiatives by employees and employers, thus the move to extend it.
As of 30 May 2021, SOCSO has approved a total of 330,586 PSU applications from employers, benefiting a total of 2.72 million workers, and with a total payment of RM15.04bn.
