This is the first time in 25 years that salaries are set to be increased for two consecutive years.

Taiwan’s Directorate-General of Personnel Administration, Executive Yuan has announced a salary increment of 3% for all military personnel, civil servants and teachers, effective 1 January 2025.

This is the first time in 25 years that salaries are set to be increased for two consecutive years.

The Directorate-General said various relevant financial indicators, including consumer price index, salary trends in the private sector, as well as government fiscal revenues and expenditures, have all been taken into consideration. The increment aims to boost morale and share the economic fruits.

The 2025 salary adjustment will include three aspects: basic pay and seniority pay, professional supplementary pay (academic and research supplementary pay for teachers), and supervisory post supplementary pay. It is estimated to benefit 730,000 employees, with an estimated cost of about NT$23.5bn.
