Thailand aims to promote employment for students with MOU between Labour Ministry and OVEC

Labour Minister's Secretariat Suthep Chitayawong noted the cooperation between the two agencies will likely enhance the skill level of students, which is an important requirement in preparing them to enter the labour market.

On 7 January 2022 (Friday), Thailand's Labour Minister, Suchart Chomklin, assigned Secretariat Suthep Chitayawong to preside over a meeting to discuss missions relevant to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Labour (MOL) at Hat Yai Technical College, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province.

The meeting, which also involved the Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) and agencies under the MOE, covered relevant matters under the cooperation framework for the promotion of education and providing jobs for students and workers at all levels.

Secretariat Suthem commented: "The cooperation between the two agencies will be a good sign that will enhance the skill level of students, which is an important force in skill preparation to enter the labour market in the future, having potential, and meeting the needs of entrepreneurs."

The Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development has previously worked with the OVEC and agencies under MOE for skill development, integrating skill development and vocational education accordingly. The operations and resource management are planned together to create and upgrade human resources to meet the needs of the manufacturing and service sectors, both in quantity and quality.
