Up the ranks: Sharron Pamplin appointed as Lloyd’s Register's first ever Chief People Officer

Previously a Partner at Deloitte, Pamplin has significant experience within professional services businesses such as LR.

Maritime engineering and technology solutions specialist Lloyd’s Register (LR) has boosted its executive leadership team with the appointment of a first-ever Chief People Officer in Sharron Pamplin (pictured above), who joins the team moving over from Deloitte.

Pamplin, who was previously a Partner at Deloitte, has significant experience within professional services businesses such as LR. Prior to her tenure at Deloitte, she held HR Director roles at engineering consultants Atkins, and recruitment specialists Hays. She is a member of the employment and leadership team at Business in the Community, and a non-executive director of engineering skills charity Enginuity.

"Pamplin’s role will be titled Chief People Officer to align with other executive roles in the leadership team," stated LR, announcing the appointment. 

LR Group CEO, Nick Brown, said; "We are delighted to welcome Sharron to LR, where she will bring new perspectives and greater diversity, helping our people develop a maritime technical professional services mindset across our global business, becoming trusted advisers to the maritime industry."

New CPO Pamplin, added; "My experience in consulting and professional services organisations will help us to build the culture and capabilities that will enable us to be even more responsive to our clients’ needs, add value to their businesses in new and exciting ways and create truly great career experiences for our people."

The appointment comes on the heels of another senior hire in Jane Austin as Group Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Director. She joins from QinetiQ, a global science and engineering company, and has worked for more than 25 years as a safety professional across a range of science, engineering and technology sectors. Further, Nicola Good, who joined LR as Head of External Relations for Marine and Offshore in 2019, has been named External Communications Director.
