Q How would you describe the pillars of your employee experience strategy, and what are the principles you have taken into account to develop this?

We help our employees to be successful by providing opportunities for them to make a positive impact through meaningful work, nurture them to grow in their careers and thrive in our winning culture.

Our employee experience strategy is anchored around these pillars:

  1. Culture: A strong culture is a unifying force, motivating us to seize opportunities and overcome challenges together.
  2. Leadership: We develop leaders to lead by example, listen actively, and empower teams.
  3. Employee wellbeing: Our programme focuses on six dimensions of wellness – emotional, financial, community, social, career and physical.
  4. Career development: Upskilling and reskilling through personalised growth plans, is highly encouraged in CapitaLand.
  5. Technology & tools: We invest in digital workspaces and AI-driven tools such as Workday and Genie AI, to enhance productivity.
  6. Community & CSR: We provide opportunities to engage with local communities and promote volunteerism and sustainability.

Q In a world propelled by rapid change, what measures do you have in place to maintain a people-centric, human approach to your EX as it evolves? is?

In an ever-changing landscape, our commitment to a people-centric employee experience remains front and centre. Here’s how we ensure a human touch as we evolve:

Feedback channels: We maintain open channels for employees to share their thoughts, concerns, and ideas. Regular pulse surveys, town halls, and anonymous feedback mechanisms ensure we stay connected.

Transparency and communication: Via townhalls, coffee/fireside chats with our senior leadership team, we communicate openly about organisational changes, strategy shifts, and challenges. Transparent leadership fosters trust and alignment.

Emphasis on wellbeing: Our holistic approach places employee wellbeing at the forefront, allowing them to bring their authentic selves to work while flexible working arrangements cater to the diverse needs of individuals.

Talent development and learning programmes: We invest in continuous learning, and strongly believe that our robust development programmes, mentorship, and upskilling can help employees stay relevant.

Q What initiatives do you undertake such that the delivery of employee experience is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders in the organisation?

Training & development: We empower all our employees with continuous learning opportunities; from leadership to frontline staff, everyone gets to participate in personalised skill-building programmes.

360 Survey feedback and listening tools: Regular feedback loops involve everyone. We use surveys, town halls, and digital platforms to gather insights, ensuring diverse perspectives shape our strategy. We have established listening tools to help us stay attuned to employee sentiments, and our leadership receives candid feedback from their peers, team members and superiors so there’s clarity on our leadership’s strengths and opportunities for growth.

Employee experience committee: A cross-functional committee, comprising representatives from various departments, collaborates on initiatives that help enhance the employee journey and drive programmes that are aligned with our values and aspirations.

Employee recognition programmes: To shape an inclusive, supportive environment where everyone contributes to our shared success, we celebrate our achievements through awards and appreciation. It reinforces a culture of appreciation across the organisation.

Q Do you have words of wisdom to share with others in the industry on the best ways to keep your employee experience consistent and beautiful?

Culture transformation: Culture is the unique secret sauce that every company has. It is our compass, and we embarked on a transformation journey to align our values with actions.

Authenticity and communication: Be genuine in your interactions. Transparent communication builds trust and fosters a positive experience.

Invest in learning & development: Prioritise growth, and empower employees through regular training, upskilling, and mentorship.

Embrace DEI (Diversity, equity, and inclusion): Celebrate differences, and the unique strengths and perspectives that individuals bring to the table. A diverse workforce enhances creativity and innovation.

Celebrate success together: Embrace progress over perfection and recognise achievements collectively. Shared wins strengthen bonds and boost morale.

Agility & adaptability: Stay curious and respond to changing needs swiftly, ensuring you keep a people-first focus.

Lead by example: Lead by example and be the change you want to see. Authentic leadership inspires others to follow suit.

Q Finally, what is the positive impact of employee experience that you’ve seen on the business as well as the workforce?

A positive employee experience is pivotal in fostering a collaborative culture. It encourages teams to break down silos, promoting cross-functional teamwork and knowledge sharing.

We have witnessed how this environment nurtures employees who are passionate about their work and the company’s vision, giving them the drive and motivation to go the extra mile in their roles.

The impact is twofold; it boosts business performance through increased innovation and efficiency and enhances the workforce’s overall satisfaction and wellbeing. These outcomes are evident in employee engagement surveys, which reflect high engagement and a strong sense of satisfaction.
