Frontline employees, including full-time bus captains and engineers, will receive a guaranteed pay increase of no less than HK$810 per month.
Hong Kong’s franchised bus operator Citybus has announced a salary increment of 3.6% for all employees and the continuation of the implementation of a minimum pay rise of no less than HK$810 for frontline colleagues, including full-time bus captains and engineers.
As said in its statement, despite the ongoing difficult market conditions, the bus operator has decided to make the strategic decision to provide a competitive pay rise package to employees, aiming at rewarding their dedication and efforts over the past year, and celebrating the company’s 45th anniversary with its colleagues.
Citybus continued to emphasise that employees are the most critical asset to the company, and it always values the relationship and communication with colleagues. The leadership team has therefore proactively invited the Joint Consultative Committee and Union Representatives, along with colleague representatives, for a series of meetings to exchange ideas on the continuous improvement of the remuneration packages and general working conditions.
Following extensive discussions over several meetings and having considered the feedback from colleagues, the company has decided to implement a 3.6% pay raise. After calculating the minimum guaranteed pay increase applicable to key frontline colleagues, all employees will receive an average of 3.86% salary increment.
“We are following our core value of ‘putting our people first’. We know that strong teams and high levels of employee engagement deliver a high-performance culture and a business that will deliver results,” said the company.
The pay increase for frontline colleagues will come into effect on 1 September 2024. Other colleagues will receive their pay increase as usual in January 2025, based on their annual performance reviews.
On the benefits side, on top of its current remuneration package, including 24 weeks of full-paid maternity and two weeks of full-paid paternity leave, Citybus will also introduce a special leave offer for its colleagues this year, enabling them to celebrate the joyous occasion of their children’s marriage.
Looking forward, the company said it will continue to further improve the overall working facilities and work with colleagues to develop new working arrangements, duties, and rosters.
